    I worked at AroundCampus part-time

    Pros

-No direct supervision since your manager is usually in another state. You only need to report to them once a week with what youve accomplished that week.
-Very easy and doable workload. Just consists of hanging flyers, gathering information around campus, getting people to sign up with the specific brand you were asked to advertise.
-Pay is decent for such an easy job. More than minimum wage.

    Cons

The only con i can think of is that they send you way too many items to give away. At one point i had 3 giant boxes just in the middle of my room.

    Advice to Management

Send less goodies to give out.

    Pros

The Experience you get is extraordinary. This is a sales B-2-B experience so you are on the field pretty much 95% of the time going into businesses. The company provides a 1 week fun but exhausting training in North Carolina all expenses paid. The company also has various career partners which love to hired top candidates from Around Campus and some of the career partner companies give you a great salary straight out of college if you are looking to get into sales.

    Cons

This is tough job, you are on the field from morning to afternoon and the more you push and the more you will see results. Sales is not for everyone so if you care what others think of you and if you live by the status quo and if you are not willing to break out of your comfort zone and push yourself to the limit then this is not for you

If sales is something you want to pursue or if you are not sure but at least want to find out if it is something you want to do then yes go ahead and do this internship. It will change your life, you will experience hard customers, rejections, many of them in fact. You will go through hard times but my best advice to you is to keep pushing and dont let a rejection or anything else put you down because then you will struggle.

As Sales Team Leader you are responsible for motivating your team, you will see that sometimes they will feel like they had enough and they might even want to quit but you have to stand out as a leader and take this experience to build up your future career in sales

    Advice to Management

I have been working at AroundCampus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company provides professional B2B sales management opportunities for employees very early in their sales careers.
Company sales training is very strong, and company spends thousands of dollars per intern to fly them across country and train them with no promise that the intern will ever be a strong seller.
Very young, high-energy sales environment. Refreshing to see young professionals passionate about helping college students begin their career.
New president has strong vision for the company.

    Cons

Regional Manager position seasonally has a lot of travel. Mainly during early spring and summer, the Regional Managers are traveling almost every week. This can be exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Let department heads really lead their departments. Allow employees to trust that their department head is in charge of the day to day decisions.

    Pros

A great resume builder for any career path. Sales is a crucial skill to conquer, and University Directories spends a great deal of time and money training the interns to make sure they have a successful and fulfilling summer. The management team cares greatly about the success of the interns and are always trying to help you improve. Definitely a great company to work for, and an awesome experience.

    Cons

Doing cold calls all day long can be difficult, especially with rude business owners. At times it is hard to stay motivated, but the management team is great at communicating with the interns on a daily basis and solving any motivational issues.

    Advice to Management

It is important to stay in contact with the interns about their day. Because there is so much freedom in this internship, people may lose track as to what they are supposed to be doing. Therefore the management needs to make sure people are getting the job done and the calls made.

    Pros

training, management, looks great on a resume and very challenging. Recommend to anyone interested in starting a career in sales.

    Cons

Very hard job that can be frustrating, print advertising is a dying business and hard to motivate oneself day after day when you really do not see any commission checks for your sales.

    Advice to Management

Pay out commission in advance because working for 400 hours for 200 dollars a week can be very frustrating, which can cause good reps to loose motivation.

    Pros

    -Great resume builder
    -Motives/awards to work hard
    - Great management support
-Career partners contacted me weeks after completing the internship with job offers
-AMAZING vibes and atmosphere from the company
-Make connections with the local business you work with
-Week long expense paid training in NC so you feel very prepared for the job

    Cons

The days do start to feel very long working 830 to 6 every Monday through Friday and cold calling can get a little frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Understand that employees need a few days off in the summer or they will become overworked and unmotivated. Working 40 hours + for 200 dollars a week can be a little frustrating

The oppurtunities handed to you after the internship
Your effort directly determines your success
    Unbelievable experiences

    Cons

I didn't hit goal or the team goal, but still can't think of any cons. The pay wasn't great, but I don't know what else you would expect out of an internship. If you didn't do well, I'll guarentee it was because of some excuse. The internship teaches you that not only during the internship, but in any other job that there will be objections to overcome and how you react will determine your success.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You promised everyone a chance to succeed and delivered. Thank you for giving me the attitude neccessary to succeed.
