    I worked at Arriva as a contractor

    Pros

    Arriva is quite progressive - future focussed, ambitious, keen on team work, wants outputs from you more than "jobs worth", supports you to do a good job

    Cons

    Not necessarily a con, but German ownership influences culture - can be risk averse. Current context is tricky too, political uncertainty and financial pressures. Seems harder and harder to meet goals in current climate.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to invest in and communicate with workforce as current context makes it more difficult to succeed and deliver results

    I worked at Arriva (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The Company is a very good one to work for, they are active in understanding their HR's needs in terms of training and try to offer a variety of courses. Very good relationship with all management. Excellent payment terms and very fair pay rate for freelancers. Enjoyable company atmosphere.

    Cons

    I cannot think of any.

    Advice to Management

    Maybe a closer look at employees' actual wishes in terms of overall communication would help straightening out few aspects in need of being worked out.

    Pros

    * Travel benefits
    * Flexible working and down-to-earth staff
    * Multiple office locations
    * No corporate jargon

    Cons

    * Anyone and everyone will complain at you for their service (or lack of)
    * Probably get paid less than market rate

    Advice to Management

    Experience I had with management was first class.

    I have been working at Arriva (Less than a year)

    Pros

    In comparison to my previous transport solutions provider, its chalk and cheese and Arriva is that amazing bit of cheddar you find in an fantastic plough mans in an obscure pub, whilst out for a Sunday drive.

    Cons

    There seems to be only one person we can turn to for everyday problem solving and when they are on leave, I have to wait for their return.

    Neutral Outlook

    I have been working at Arriva full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good office environment
    Good training courses are available
    Flexible working improves work/life balance
    Opportunities to establish good relationships with customers

    Cons

    The NHS environment is currently very uncertain, which permeates down to employees considerably
    Some senior management are inclined to shift blame for problems and difficulties to lower grade staff

    Advice to Management

    Management should be more aware of the key detail within jobs. The service is suffering from almost constant redesign but management do not appear to appreciate the negative impact of this.
