I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Arrow is a large employer in Colorado and has many exciting things going on. They are responsible to the community and have a lot of opportunity for those willing to sieze it.

    Cons

The company has many processes and ideals, especially at the top, that are outdated. Opportunity within the company is inconsistent.

    Advice to Management

Clearer overall direction and more attention to cultivating high performing teams. Arrow is on the right track and is growing in the right direction, but as the "type" of company Arrow is changes, the culture needs to change as well.

I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Arrow is an awesome place to make connections, cut your teeth on the electronics industry in general, and get a very broad base of experience as the company does practically everything under the sun.

    Cons

Arrow is not a very rewarding company to work for. Specifically they have this corporate culture that doing your job, and doing it well, is not to be rewarded. If you do 100% of your job, that is considered average, and only people that are doing 150-200% are considered to be above average employees. They have no interest in taking an active role in perpetuating your career and expect the employee to be wholly responsible for pushing themselves forward. This seems like a minor complaint, but without guidance, mentorship, or any kind of positive reinforcement, this company really makes you feel like there is no way to move forward. Additionally; not giving employees a clear path to advance not only discourages them from working hard, but makes it nearly impossible to know or find out how to move forward.

    Advice to Management

I know from working in other corporations that neglecting employees is a losing strategy. I have already seen the negative effects of this style management, with high turn-over and increasing disinterest in the company from incoming talent. For a company that is on the verge of losing a substantial swath of their workforce to retirement, the corporate culture needs to change to keep pace with the incoming workers who value a company that values them.

I worked at Arrow Electronics full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, although this last year health insurance became extremely expensive for a company the size of Arrow.

    Cons

You a just a number, good people are laid off when there are so many other employees that are non performers who still have their job.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, you are letting so much talent go that could really set you apart in the industry.

    Pros

Great learning experience with diving into the a growing industry of cloud solutions. Bosses are very goal oriented and the office feel is friendly in their newer section.

    Cons

Poor communication between the management and lower employees. Not clear expectations as a result of this that can hurt the progress of different projects. No clear career growth paths due to budgets for each department.

    Advice to Management

Create more transparency with goal expectations and open communication up much more.

I have been working at Arrow Electronics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fitness Center/classes, flexible hours, and decent vacation time. Early release for holidays if your manager doesn't withhold their upper management communication saying to spread the word. Good people trying to make it work under terrible leadership.

    Cons

Expensive healthcare and no company contribution to dental and minimal 401k match. No work from home options in supplier accounting nor any bonuses. Learn the business and move on...

    Advice to Management

Invest in your dedicated loyal employees instead of spending it all on grumpy cat marketing and race cars

    Pros

cross training available. benefits offered to part time workers. paid Holiday's and Sunday's off. advancement opportunities available.

    Cons

12 hour days 6 days a week. No work life balance. Management needs to be more involved with workers. Supervisors need to supervise.

    Advice to Management

Stop working your employees 12 hours a day 6 days a week. You will actually see better production results on 5 ten hour days as long as the supervisors step up and make sure the employees are working and not standing around talking/ playing on phones.
