I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in schedule and good health benefits. Nice facilities such as in site gym (in Denver offices). Work life balance somewhat. Fun people to work with.

    Cons

    No development
    No raises
    No bonuses for salary employees
    Constantly reorganizing
    Lack of standardized systems
Lack of documentation of processes or for new hires to learn.

    Advice to Management

Recognize and develop talent. Many leave for that reason. I do not feel they value their employees.

I worked at Arrow Electronics full-time

    Pros

In general, a very good place to work. Opportunity to work with a wide range of customers, suppliers, and technology.

    Cons

Not all operating divisions smoothly adapted to emerging market trends and a changing mix of high margin opportunities. Scrambling to catch up in certain geographies and operational areas.

I have been working at Arrow Electronics full-time

    Pros

There are a few smart folks scattered about the company.

    Cons

Directors and VPs suffer from acute short-termism. Most business decisions are made with an eye towards the next earnings report rather than as part of a larger long-term strategy.

The key to getting promoted is to suck up to directors and VPs. Hard work and ingenuity comes a far second to office politics as a way to get ahead. This results in mediocre and subpar employees at the manager and director level.

    Advice to Management

    Think long term.

I worked at Arrow Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, casual atmosphere, Has free doughnuts on Fridays

    Cons

We were a company that AIS purchased. It took two years for Arrow to execute their plan. The plan executed is a template applied to other purchased companies. Discover main value, eliminate all positions not covered by mainstream group and merge. Do not think your group will survive because it is "special"

    Advice to Management

Get a backbone and be honest with the people that helped you get where you are.
