I have been working at Art Center College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Creative environment is amazing. Lots of talented folks sharing their craft and their knowledge of the craft. With so many long time employees around you would think that it must be a great place to work. Beautiful campus. Exciting expansion plans.

    Cons

Just because they stick around doesn't mean they love the job. You hear the buzz around the place and many are pissed off but just can't move on. Expansion can mean growing pains.

    Advice to Management

They have been slow to react, and react badly when they do, so I don't have any advice for Management. It would likely fall on deaf ears. Or worse, they say they will do one thing and then do the complete opposite as if they never thought or stated differently.

I worked at Art Center College (More than 10 years)

    Pros

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL faculty and students. The best talent anywhere.

    Cons

The board has chosen to empower the wrong people. The school is in desperate need of new blood. The jurassic group that is running the place is intently focused on their political battles and self enrichment and obviously couldn't care less about the betterment of the students and those who educate them.

    Advice to Management

Mr. Davidson needs to buy a broom and make a clean sweep.

I have been working at Art Center College part-time

    Pros

Brilliant faculty and students! That is why the culture is still worth it.

    Cons

Petty, selfish, power seeking administration. Many department chairs are corrupt, self-serving, vindictive and ineffective. Transportation is a joke. FIlm is a joke. The reputation of the school is plummeting. The senior management is the worst!! They are totally self absorbed, mean spirited, hypocritical, often vicious to one another and their faculty and staff. The new team is just as bad as the old one! Loren may be worse because he does it with the veneer of caring, when he clearly could care less about the faculty, staff and students. Its all about him and his superficial super crafted messaging. I do not mean the marketing team which spends time trying to know students, faculty and staff and alumni. They're great. In fact, so is the alumni service team.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the president, provost and many of the chairs. Take a good hard look at who actually knows students and the real community.

    Pros

Creative environment, excellent pay, great benefits, involvement in preparing a new generation of designers, artists, great work environment, Lots of energy at the school.

    Cons

There are no cons conditions that I can think of at the moment. Most of the working conditions are acceptable and comfortable.

    Advice to Management

Situations occur where an individual may have great experience but not be able to exercise the experience as education and this is a mistake at times often not recognized by management.
