I have been working at Art Van Furniture full-time

    Pros

The company offers a very good benefit package. Pay is very good, and the company continues to coach you throughout your career.

    Cons

The hours do not allow a work/home balance. As a manager you can also be transferred to locations further from home whenever upper management decides.

    Advice to Management

    Promote a work life balance.

I worked at Art Van Furniture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paid weekly, vacation and sick time.

    Cons

Positions outside of sales and sales management are considered easy to replace and thus they get what they pay for. Very little accountability when the top performers break rules and even blatantly steal from others.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the office staff, visual merchandisers, housekeeping, and backroom staffs more. Create a team culture in the sales staff so they don't steal from each other. Have a little more integrity in advertising. Customers have little faith that it's the best sale ever when they come in.

I have been working at Art Van Furniture part-time

    Pros

Supportive management team, great work environment. It does vary from store to store, but overall it’s a great place to work. 100% commission but I’ve never in 7 years not made my draw.

    Cons

100% Commission (not a hard draw to cover) depending on the store there are dishonest sales people and the more business they write the more they are allowed to get away with. That said, pay attention to you and your goals and leave the others to the drama and you’ll do just fine

    Advice to Management

Hold all sales staff to the same standards. Do the ethical, and right thing when dealing with certain types of employees. It shouldn’t matter how good their numbers make you look, if they are making the numbers dishonestly, don’t kill the culture of your store by looking the other way. If the rest of the staff is happy, they’ll write enough business to cover the one that was stealing.

    Pros

    Weekly pay, opportunity for growth

    Cons

Didn’t love the actual furniture, but that’s mostly due to the area. Other stores in the company have cool stuff.

I have been working at Art Van Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tons of upward potential with few barriers to entry. Unmotivated sales associates will make base $10.50 an hr. Top preformers and ambitious sales associates make well into six figures!

    Cons

Not even playing field, veterans can cheat and steal deals. Sometimes can come down to luck if your new and have no loyal cliental

    Advice to Management

Crack down on cheating, veteran associates have more authority at times then management and at some locations will bully fellow associates off deals or go over top managements head without being reprimanded!

I worked at Art Van Furniture full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Only thing is good to work there is the vending machine because it will be your only way to escape work..

    Cons

Long hours no breaks in between. 45min lunch . And if you're late one day your getting let go.

    Advice to Management

The Staffing is unorganized. work is harder with no order instructions. Team leads don't instruct any order. Majority everyone is running around with their head cut off.
