I have been working at Art Van Furniture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Both my husband and I work for the company. I am in Sales & he is a part of the delivery team. We both decided to start our careers here, because of the opportunities for growth and the family oriented environment. I absolutely love coming to work everyday, because we are one big family.

    Cons

Work/Home life balance. If you can handle that part, and the roller coaster the sales profession is, than you will be good. The hours are long, but I have always felt appreciated for my time, and it usually pays off. Its not as easy as it looks. I had no idea what this career path had in store for me, but I am really blessed that I took that leap 3 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Never stop building up your team, even when times are tough.. we work really hard, we take lots of time out of our lives away from our family to be here. Be transparent, help each individual grow in the best way for them, and hold them accountable. If you do that, you will keep hard workers for a long time.

I have been working at Art Van Furniture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, flexible hours, ability to meet my needs as an employee and at home. The organization truly cares for its over 5500 employees.

    Cons

Would love to see tuition reimbursement. Also some of its practices are outdated. Part of that has to do with the growing pains of going from a family run company to an national company.

I have been working at Art Van Furniture part-time

    Pros

As long as you do your job, which you should if it involves commission, you should be fine. The management is decent enough, and the pay rate is great as long as you are selling.

    Cons

The hours are long, and you need to work every weekend which leaves little time for a personal life. Depending on the day, and how many people they need working you can put in a 7 - 12 hour work day.

I worked at Art Van Furniture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the people were great. It feels like a family with the sales staff. Overtime was always welcomed if you asked for it.

    Cons

Management was not good. Some people were moved up at the wrong time- like after being reported by customers for being rude. Hr did not listen to emails or even respond.
Long hours. Hard to get time off if needed.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to who is in what position. If a store is losing multiple employees at once take a look at the management. Make sure you appreciate those who work hard.

    Pros

Ok pay and better than average companies, nice showrooms, profit sharing, and 401 k available medical insurance, dental, vision ok.

    Cons

No work life balance, very long hours, you get treated like a number, unfriendly, militaristic, and micro mngt style. No loyalty to hardworking individuals or any one!

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with appreciation and show them more respect. Make life work balance changes in your policy. Make changes to your micromanagement style, and stop showing favoritism!
