I worked at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

AJG has some very good vision for the future. They want to build the brand. I think some of the focus is a bit off and all, but I like the potential.

    Cons

The health benefits are very mediocre.

I have been working at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been with GB for over 10 years and it has been a great experience. I was hired as a Claims Adjuster/Resolution Manager, then was promoted to a Senior, and then a Supervisor. GB is very invested in their employees and will do their best to promote their employees. There are flexible work schedules. You can dress casual to work. Great team/unit environment.

    Cons

    Some clients can be demanding.

    Pros

Good co-workers, ability to work from home, supplies equipment to work from home, paid licensing

    Cons

Work life balance, low salary with lower annual increases

    Advice to Management

Pay current employees as much as you pay to recruit new hires, lower health insurance premiums would also be nice particularly when annual increases barely cover the increased yearly cost for same

I worked at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits offered were good, considering todays job world. Not much overtime necessary.
The new exit ramp from the highway makes it easier to get to work.

    Cons

If your not in the "Crowd" your not going to go anywhere. No casual Friday, no Summer hours, assigned lunch times and management is completely inflexible in regard to allowing you to change your start time or end time to attend an appointment or child's function.

    Advice to Management

Step into the current century as it will not bend the "Gallagher Way".

    Pros

Gallagher is huge which allows for many growth possibilities. They are large enough to invest in many different support departments which allow you to concentrate on the claims handling. There as so many supportive knowledgeable employees who have been here for years. Our office is very hard working and dedicated but has laughter, helpfulness and support.

    Cons

This is a very fast paced environment. This can be considered a con for some but your day goes by quickly and you leave with a real sense of accomplishment.

    I worked at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. full-time

    Pros

The pay is decent starting out. The majority of my coworkers were very friendly and helpful. PTO is nice but the benefits are surprisingly bad considering the parent company of AJG deals with employee benefits.

    Cons

Leadership, or lack thereof. Too many cooks in the kitchen. There is not one clear cut "President" or manager. No one is ever on the same page and there is a lack of follow through. It can become extremely frustrating and hinders the ability to be promoted and move up. Extremely high turn over rate. There is a culture of overworking and using up the "little people" and replacing them. It became exhausting having to constantly retrain people who only remained at the company for a year tops.

    Advice to Management

Make one clear cut leader and make sure your managers/supervisors are on the same page. It makes everyone look bad when managers bad mouth each other. Nothing gets accomplished when we have a "new direction" every 6 months.

I worked at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (More than a year)

    Pros

Management supported activities that made office environment enjoyable. Contests, birthday lunches, holiday events....

    Cons

Paid well below industry standard for several positions.

    Pros

Ability to work remote, lots of flexibility, Benefits are excellent.

    Cons

Salaries could be higher, workload is high. Pending around 150 for lost time is the norm. Working evenings and weekends is the norm. Paid time off is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Be more realistic with pending. They are way too high with the expectation of documentation. 120 should be the maximum for quality claim handling. Normal at 150 doesn't work well.
