I worked at Artsy Abode full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Me not working there any longer. What affirmation I now have that things are never as they appear on the surface,

    Cons

Unreal schedule of hours, immense stress and the merchandise and environment don’t require such intense micromanagement. The discount is a joke, can only apply to items worn for work, also forced to only wear their brands and no outside jewelry. Strict uniform rules. Threats of visits constantly as to ensue constant unnerving. Covers up bad reviews with good ones. Threatens store managers job status to have their family member remove a negative review. Controlling at and off of work. Constant spying and felt I had no private life. I couldn’t take this any longer and resigned and they have been medaling in my life ever since.

I worked at Artsy Abode full-time

    Pros

None, other than the customers and the associates were very nice.

    Cons

It's a dictatorship! I have many years in retail management and have never seen anyone treated the way the owner and the director of her stores speak to other managers and team members. They have no respect for their managers and associates. When I joined their team they had five store manager positions open out of twenty stores. That should have been a red flag. They do not want to hear anyone's business opinion on operating the business differently to increase sales and build the team to be happy and be more efficient. There is no work life balance for the managers. They want their store managers to work 45+ hours a week but get paid for 40 hours and are usually not allowed to leave for your break although you must clock out for it. They want you to check and respond to email and phone calls constantly off the clock. No paid holidays and only 5 days PTO a year and 10 days after five years of employment. That is well below the country average. Under paid per country standard average.

    Artsy Abode Response

    November 17, 2017CEO

Very sorry to hear about your experience. Hours are provided based on a budget as well as level of contribution the team member provides to the store. For associates, it's important to communicate with your direct management team . As the owners of 17 stores, we are not involved in day-to-day operations with the business. Even with your poor review we wish you well in your future endeavors.

I worked at Artsy Abode full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good quality products, stays on top of trends, wonderful co-workers. Okay employee discount (customers can receive better discount), good pay, great benefits.

    Cons

Management. The store managers are constantly being changed and when changing managers upper management does not inform or adequately train managers. Upper management stresses out store managers and this stress is passes into the other employees. The environment is abusive, stressful, and the moral in the store when the manager is there pushing sales is almost non-existent. This went from a fun, enjoyable place to work to a place where I felt as though I had to constantly watch my back and wonder which side of my manager I would see. It was extremely disheartening to have to leave when I was so excited to work here after I had been hired.
