I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are considering a job with Ascend, the main pro is that you will likely have a very committed, ethical and hardworking group of co-workers. More often than not, co-workers look out for each other and stay focused on the success of the team as a whole. As far as the "ground troops" are concerned, I never worked with a better group of people.

So, if the job you're considering with Ascend is a non-managerial or laboratory technical position (CLS, MLT, etc), you will might enjoy working for this company as long as you don't have to interact directly with the executive management. The company does offer a good benefits package, a few parties and picnics throughout the year, pleasant breakroom facilities with free coffee, and occasional catered lunches.

    Cons

If you are considering a managerial position or a position where you would work directly with the "C" levels, be prepared for a frustrating and chronically challenging work culture. There are some big egos and rampant narcissism to contend with the higher you go where the behavior runs the gamut from passive/aggressive to just plain aggressive. If you have rock solid self-esteem and the ability to leave work at work, if you have a steady and sane temperament in the midst of craziness, if you can identify and resist being manipulated and gaslighted, and if you are good at setting and maintaining pristine and non-negotiable personal boundaries, you will be fine. Otherwise, consider another employer.

    Advice to Management

Advice to specifically the executive management: the employees are not your enemies, and you need to take personal responsibility when things go wrong instead of finding an underling to be the scapegoat. Entertain the idea that it's probably a fallacy of logic to believe that EVERY SINGLE ONE of your employees is lazy, incompetent or out to defraud the company, and further a fallacy to believe that you are the only ones who know how to do anything. It's also good to step back and get some perspective, perhaps even listen to your mid-level management team's insight and not dismiss or be threatened by their ideas.

I have been working at Ascend Clinical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Average pay and good 401k match. Occasional fun parties/other events.

    Cons

Micromanaging imbeciles that make changes willy nilly with no concern for how it actually affects workflow. Extreme workflow volume changes from day to day and management insists you pretend to look busy when there is nothing to do. There is also zero growth potential for career development for employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stop asking for a facade of professionalism when you yourselves cause a very unprofessional environment. No concern to add extra staff when we have to work 15 hour days and thwn yell at us for taking overtime.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They used to have a good 401K plan but now many other companies offer better plans. They make the claim that their pay is compatible with other labs.

    Cons

The worst management team imaginable. They have no regards for their hard working employees constantly accusing them of not working hard enough. All they care about is making profits. If the lab was properly inspected they would be found to be worst than Theranos.

    Advice to Management

To earn your employees loyalty and respect you have to treat them fairly; you know you have neither right now.

I worked at Ascend Clinical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not many positives here. They go through reps like water.

    Cons

Bad Leadership. No way they can compete in this market that they are working in.

    Advice to Management

Keep CEO out of sales and find new sales leadership is the only way they make it on such a limited menu.

I have been working at Ascend Clinical full-time

    Pros

Upper management allows employees to be involved in company projects outside of their immediate departments. It gives us a chance to learn more about the company and also allows us to provide input. They review salaries to ensure they are competitive in the market.

    Cons

Sometimes there are many projects at once which can be challenging, but it is also very exciting to see the company grow.

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow employees to provide ideas and suggestions. We feel valued!

I have been working at Ascend Clinical full-time

    Pros

Growing business with opportunities for career growth. Great benefits - 401k matching, Strong employer contributions to HSA and medical benefits, generous tuition reimbursement benefit. Fun activities for employees like lab week, summer picnic at Great America, etc., free meals on busy weeks

    Cons

Very fast paced work. Growth can be good but also challenging - sometimes have to drop what one is focused on to move to new challenge - don't always get opportunity to celebrate or acknowledge all accomplishments.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on employee development. Additional manager training will enable more confidence in the team's leadership.
