I have been working at Ascend Learning

    Pros

Great people with leadership driven by goals of financial success & nurturing a successful work culture while achieving financial goals. Work Life balance is lived not just talked about. Time off policy is liberal. The organization is service minded and provides employees the opportunity to serve in the community. This is also the only organization where when I have traveled for business or meetings I have been encouraged...

    Cons

Any cons I could cite, for NHA, would really fall within the realm of normal for any organization. Overall, the leadership of our division of Ascend strives to make this a great place to work. From an Ascend perspective, the shared services model for technology makes it hard for smaller divisions to get the resources they need. It would also be great if there was more focus on the smaller divisions where there is...

I worked at Ascend Learning full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Decent pay. Good peers. Flexibility.

    Cons

No innovations in their pipeline. A leadership that is living in the past and a corporate umbrella that emails employees instructing them to write a positive review on Glassdoor whether they believe it or not.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN!! Your employees care and wish to make it better.

I have been working at Ascend Learning full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

JBL Ascend has great benefits. They are a bit pricey but they cover health, dental & vision. There is a strong value place on employees especially those that contribute at a high level. Employees have a straight line to Executive Management so that their ideas are heard. Very strong understanding of the importance of work/life balance. Everyone participates in the bonus program.

    Cons

Publishing industry is going through changes and JBL needs to be faster to market.

    Advice to Management

Offering great bonus plans and good benefits are the way to attract top performers. Please keep doing that.

I have been working at Ascend Learning full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

PTO policy is great. Perfect for work/life balance. A chance to explore different areas of the industry.

    Cons

Folks who have shared that this company is unstable don't understand the goal the Ascend is trying to achieve. Each company is unique, and understanding each company and the overarching goal can seem cloudy, but that doesn't mean unstable. The companies have continued to grow when others in the industry are having negative growth numbers year after year, alongside layoffs. Ascend is trying to adapt and change with...

I have been working at Ascend Learning full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Unlimited paid time off, Friday hours in the summer (3PM you're out), the people in Sales

    Cons

There is no ownership of work/ projects, there is no communication from top down, the technology products are easily 5 years behind the market. There is no real growth potential or upward mobility in Sales.

    Advice to Management

Make the move to a digital/ technology company. Go ALL in and actually pay people good money to put in the long hours and accelerate your timelines.
