I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits that are affordable
    PTO
401k matched at 6% by the company
Co-workers are always looking out for you

    Cons

Every office has its ups and downs, for the most part seton is a great place to work.

Traffic heading downtown in the mornings is probably the worst part about working for any of the downtown locations.

I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you're night shift, you can park in the parking garage. However, day shifters have to walk several blocks to and from their vehicle in all kinds of weather, and in the dark.

    Cons

New supervisors and managers are scooped up from the unit staff's clique and are not experienced in leadership or management. They do not know how to manage. Extremely cliquey staff and management who write up staff on hearsay and opinions rather than on facts. Too much gossip and targeting that has led to staff firing and quitting. Management does not care if you lose your entire pay check if you are left home on call. No career advancement unless you're in the group. Pay is low, raises are low. The culture and values toward employees are very different from what management pretends. Unprofessional management.

    Advice to Management

Get educated. Grow a heart. When you become a leader you should cut friendsies ties at work and start treating everyone equally, like professionals do.

I have been working at Ascension Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salaries and coworkers are the only thing keeping everyone happy and is the only reasons left.

    Cons

Everything.....Almost every department with the ministry is outsourcing and not a great outlook. Many are losing benefits for healthcare reimbursement arrangements and chances to not receive a pay raise. Budget cuts are continuously ongoing and new room for advancement due to outsourcing preparation. Lies and deceit for a chance to make Texas employees relocate to other locations if outsourcing company do not choose Austin as one of the CBOs. Everyone is seeking employment for new opportunities, while others are waiting to receive possible unemployment benefits. Possibly!!!!!!! Not a positive outlook and not pleased with the outsourcing of many departments.

    Advice to Management

Chances are management is not safe and replaceable too.

    Pros

This is an organization that values people and demonstrates a good amount of loyalty to those that have been with the organization. If you are looking for some place to land that is going to provide stability over the long run, then this would be the place for you.

    Cons

If you are ambitious and hungry, then I would say that it might be a good place to start your career but internal growth is limited. For those looking to climb this would not be the optimal place to stay longer than the typical tenure.

I worked at Ascension Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits and a GREAT team of nurses.

    Cons

No work-life balance. If one of your nurses calls in sick, and you can't find another nurse to work you are expected to cover their shift. Even if you worked a 10-12 hour day. You are on-call 24/7.

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.

    Pros

If you are looking for safe, stable, non cutting edge, this is it.

    Cons

Politics rule the day, many small legions due the bidding of one particular director. NO COMMUNICATION. <ever>
No room to grow, to excel or grow a career. Get your skills learned here, then leave.

    Advice to Management

What go you to where you are, is not working now. Change, listen, be flexible and allow more than one person to direct it all. The people you have in place, are they the best you can have in that spot?
