I worked at Ascension Seton full-time

    Pros

Great people working there on the front lines, people who care about patients. middle management generally good. I loved my actual job there.

    Cons

As an employer, they weren't at the top of my list. Seton had lots of layoffs in the past 2 years. Benefits are not comparable with other area hospitals, cost more to employee and covers less.

    Advice to Management

Analyze how to keep employees and provide stellar care in the locations you have now. Consider keeping staff you have before opening new clinics and hospitals.

I have been working at Ascension Seton full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, great people, most importantly great mission.

    Cons

    Ongoing changes and outsourcing services

    Advice to Management

Having excellent management skills allows you to maintain positive, hardworking and dedicated employees. High turnovers usually means there's somethings wrong with management. Pay attention and make positive changes.

I worked at Ascension Seton full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people on the floors. The charge nurses and unit managers are very considerate and treat every employee with respect. When full time the retirement package is really nice as well.

    Cons

Can be deaf to some of the complaints of people on the floors. This mostly pertains to people higher in the organization. Whether staff or equipment shortages, the resolution would sometimes be slowed since non-clinical people would not heed the advice of those working on the wards.

    Advice to Management

    see above comment.

I have been working at Ascension Seton full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Most associates are dedicated to the Mission. Have worked with many great people. New teaching hospital will open in May 2017.

    Cons

Too many great associates are headed for the exits. Workloads continue to increase with no increase in compensation (unless senior leader level or above). Lack of transparency & communication. No job security (continuous reductions in staffing).

    Advice to Management

    Start caring about your associates.

    Pros

Worked with great people for 10 years.

    Cons

Top-heavy management. Very little regard for patient safety. Short-staffing is an almost daily reality. No support from management. Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Quit treating front-line employees as a commodity.
