I worked at Ascential full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Ascential has lots of perks that you would expect from a FTSE 250 business. Its progressive in terms of its culture (bring your best self to work ethos) and the fact it leads the Hampton-Alexander review for having senior female leaders is commendable. Lovely offices in great London locations. Some great brands - Edge, Retail Week, WGSN, MediaLink, Cannes Lions etc. CEO and CFO both clearly able to articulate their... visions and the business model. Some hugely talented people throughout the business. If you want to a career in sales, then there are lots of opportunities.

    Cons

KPI commercially driven culture, this is not how most people want to be micromanaged. It works for some but also stifles creativity. The Commission scheme is also not necessarily purely reflective of hard work - as I found at WGSN. Some middle managers need to be moved on, like all sales people - those that don't perform are often let go after being given a chance, the same rules should apply to managers who are... arguably stagnant and no longer innovative or getting the maximum out of their teams.

    Advice to Management

I hope you are able to amalgamate the different brands and eventually have one office in the different world cities you operate in. Duncan (CEO) is a genius.

I worked at Ascential full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I joined Ascential straight out of university and enjoyed an incredible four years: - Industry leaders in what they do and the company is in good place to continue it's great performance long into the future. - Good career progression - Hard work is rewarded - Great work life balance/flexible working - Great resources for L&D and career progression - Lot's and changes and challenges everyday - One of... the top companies UK companies for gender diversity at board level - The companies values and behaviours aren't just marketing buzzwords, they really capture what Ascential is about and that kind of company they want to be - Great company if you're a self starter and like to get S**t done

    Cons

    Nothing of note to report

    Advice to Management

    - Continue the great work - Be more open with staff about long term visions and goals of the company - Great work to encourage gender diversity at senior levels. Next step would be to examine racial diversity
