    Pros

All the benifits. Managers expect you to get jobs done, but if you have to go pick up your kid at 3 every now and then it's perfectly ok. People and senior management actually care about charity and doing things in the community.

    Cons

The cafeteria food has gotten worse. I think the pay is slightly underpar but the benifits compensate IF YOU make use of them all, which I do not.

    Advice to Management

Stop giving in to the "one offs" and try to centralize more work activities for effeciency.

    Pros

Ashland Inc. is a good company. I worked there for a few years and liked it a lot. Ashland is a good 8 am to 5 pm environment and many times you do not have to bring your work home with you.

    Cons

Some of the down sides of Ashland include the fact that it is an old, slow company. It takes a while for approvals and people are fairly set in their ways. The pay is just average and because of that I think they loose a lot of there good people. Overall it is a good company to work for though.

    Pros

This refers to Ashland Water Technologies in Wilmington, DE
Competitive R&D salary, the culture and coworkers are excellent. Very collaborative, team, happy atmosphere. There is a big effort to hire people who are "a good fit" and it shows. Big investment in career growth (trainings, conferences, ect).

    Cons

This refers to Ashland Water Technologies in Wilmington, DE
    Don't love Delaware
Health care is a high deductible plan
bimodal age distributions (missing the middle aged)

    Advice to Management

Not pleased how bonus were distributed across the business units. Not, sure how management wrote that equation.

I have been working at Ashland full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of great folks who work at Ashland. You will find a mix of several 20+ year employees along with those who have worked less than 3 years. The majority are team oriented and work hard.

    Cons

Sometimes the employees get so caught up in trying to make SAP work more efficiently that we take our mind off one of the most important reasons we are around which is to service the customer.

    Advice to Management

Be careful when trimming costs (people) because they do a lot more for the customer than you think they do.
