I have been working at Ashland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company pays very well and is an easy enough job. People are overall good to work with. Lots of vacation and off time, 1 week off each month.

    Cons

Lots of negative attitudes, worthless middle management, rotating shift schedule is difficult to handle.

    Advice to Management

Hold people accountable for doing their jobs, especially Supervisors and Team Leaders who do nothing. Negative attitudes stem from doing other peoples jobs because they are not held accountable and a lack of reward system. When new hires are paid the same or more than the person training them it demeans your worth to the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Ashland full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay & benefits decent. Some smart people work there (Dublin, OH). Not a negative culture, but the industry is tough and Ashland is hurting like other resin manufacturers.

    Cons

At least in the sales force, Ashland is spread pretty thin. Territories are multi-state/province and it is really hard to see the clients as much as they should be seen. Expect little to no assistance or instruction from superiors because they, too, are spread really thin. If you don't work in HQ expect to be forgotten much of the time.

    Advice to Management

Visit your sales people regularly. Walk in their shoes for a while to understand what they are facing, then assist them in reaching goals.

    Pros

Reasonable salaries & healthcare costs. Exceptional facilities at the Dublin location.

    Cons

Upper level management relies too heavily on consultants to make key decisions - they really do not look at the true downstream effects, they prefer to follow "what everyone else" is doing.
