I have been working at Aspex Eyewear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You will never hear from anyone. Ever. Flexible schedule, spending time with family, work/home life is manageable, no weekends. Basically, the only good thing is the schedule

    Cons

Vsp lawsuit, back orders, negative atmosphere, CEO is more than likely framing of ways to steal Christmas from children all over the world.

    Advice to Management

    Grow a pair of frames

I worked at Aspex Eyewear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good quality product lines for the price point in the optical industry.
    Salary plus bonus.

    Cons

    Weak compensation package.
Bonus program is of little value.
    No benefits or expenses.
    Limits growth for sales force.

    Advice to Management

Expand communication to sales force and clients.
Put programs into place to solve problems with account billing and VSP.
Cut inventory to a manageable level to better serve clients and avoid lengthy back orders.

    Pros

Company guaranteed us a "salary" since they knew their products were almost impossible to sell due to an impending lawsuit. I received support my fellow "teammates" and was able to discuss issues with them at any time.

    Cons

No communication whatsoever from upper management concerning lawsuit. Because of this we continued to lose accounts and we received no support from management. My direct manager was the worst of all, no communication and no support, I never felt as though I could discuss my frustrations and obstacles with them. The worst job ever...

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your territory managers and treat them as though they are intelligent human beings so they are better able to professionally discuss issues with their customers. Hire managers who can MANAGE, those who can be both empathetic and motivational instead of managing with fear and insults.

    Pros

My Boss does understand how hard it can be to get account. Very understanding that's for sure

    Cons

Sometimes your accounts would get so mad at you as a frame rep. The communication is horrible i am so unhappy with the way you handle things. I have never disliked a company so much.

    Advice to Management

Fix the Vsp issue or bring your frame cost down.

I worked at Aspex Eyewear full-time

    Pros

Innovative technology, some very loyal customers although they are dwindling..

    Cons

Terrible communication from regional managers and upper management. Frames are outdated and the company always has a lawsuit they are fighting. Very hard to sell due to these issues.

    Advice to Management

Better communication is important and keep up with latest trends. VSP lawsuit needs to be resolved in order for business to improve.

I worked at Aspex Eyewear full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Can't think of anything positive...

    Cons

    Bottom of the barrel benefits
    No sick days
    "Salaried" but must clock in/out
No hot water in the building, no soap or paper towels in the kitchen, no coffee or water to drink. Everywhere this owner can cut costs he's thought of it- even if it means basic necessities for his employees.
Owner is very disrespectful and has zero regard for employees.

    Advice to Management

Bring in people who actually know how to manage their employees and provide support. And perhaps make a little effort in the office life- mirrors in the bathroom, water, coffee, SOAP... Makes working there a bit better when simple things are provided.

    Pros

Honestly, there is nothing positive to work at this company!

    Cons

    - High turnover
    - Very low salaries with awful benefits and no sick days
    - Family business controlled by incompetent people with no managerial skills
    - No vision, no strategy, no direction, no purpose, no mission, no processes
    - The CEO is one of the most disrespectful person you can meet, extremely greedy and condescending with no manners. Very unprofessional, he treats his employees like little kids and don't give a S about their well being, everyone is disposable and replaceable.
    - No talent, only the desperate go work at this company,
    - They will lie to you during the interview process with some promises just to deceive you
    - Tense work atmosphere with constant fears induced
    - Check on LinkedIn and you will find many former employees that didn't stay longer than a few months
    - Do a search on google for Aspex Eyewear Law Suits and you will find many results where the company is sued
    - It's a matter of time before this company disappears from the radar

    Advice to Management

Sell the company to real business minded people

I worked at Aspex Eyewear full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the co-workers were very nice people but that is not enough

    Cons

This is not a serious company. It's a family company where the owner's children have various positions (sales, marketing etc) but who have no idea what a manager is supposed to do. They have no global vision, no plans, no actual management knowledge, no real policies for anything. It was the worst job ever and it completely changed my vision about working for other people. Owners are very condescending and treat employees like cattle, inducing a constant state of fear. The interview contained a lot of lies which have never materialised. If you have common sense and want a respectful environment, stay away from this "company". At the time when I was working there, they used famous trademarks (registered by other famous companies) as their own... sneaky or plainly stupid? I will never know.

    Advice to Management

Hire a real team of managers and let them work
