I worked at Asphalt Green part-time

    Pros

    Wonderful community and beautiful facility

    Cons

Lack of transparency, communication, information or knowledge of anything relevant. Management needs a do-over as they are over their heads and are not up to speed on what is going on or how to make things efficient and productive due to the high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

As mentioned, Management needs to clean house and start over. The department is running the facility amongst other things into the ground. Management - Subpar leadership skills. Incompetent and useless who don't know how to do their jobs or yet want to be there. Advice: Actually having people there who know what they are doing will only help the business and community. Upper Management - the use of... intimidation and crassness doesn't work, it only works against you. The use of social skills will only work in your favor and once that is utilized, your colleagues will actually respect you.

I worked at Asphalt Green part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

•$22/ Hr is pretty nice for the pocket. •Decent co-workers for the most part.

    Cons

•Faculty requires you to sign up for the Big Swim event but doesn’t want to pay you. You have to be on their case to get paid. It’s “mandatory volunteering” and if you don’t do it your evaluation will suffer. Mind you- not paying your employees is illegal. We have lives and must pay for living in this expensive city. •Pool management shows favoritism on a very unhealthy level and if you’re not a favorite whether... it be looks or anything else- they will completely stay clear of you. •I got constant complaints from clients saying that management would never return phone calls or emails which of course caused frustration. •I loved many of the clients but many members were extremely entitled and treated staff very poorly. Of course management rarely did anything about this and just let the verbal abuse happen because they care too much about money than their workers. •When I did decide to leave this job the head lifeguard manager who is married to the aquatics director (mind you) failed to even pay me for my last shifts. I had to call the upper management to get my check. No apology from the people I worked for on the pool deck- just silence. •Extremely toxic environment- JUST DON’T WORK HERE! It’s not worth the stress. My health suffered because of being employed here. Management does NOT care for you not matter how they may act. Very fake!

    Advice to Management

Choose a different profession. You are clearly all very unprofessional and don’t know what you are doing and it’s very transparent. If you have to hire someone from New Zealand to teach you how to swim “properly” then you have no business being in charge of this swim school. You clearly have confused your staff on how to teach because you mention during orientation and the hiring process to bring what you know from... their swimming careers to the table but then won’t let them use it when teaching. All you care about is numbers. That’s all your staff ever heard about. Do you even care that your clients are happy and feel valued? Do you even care if your employees feel happy and valued? •Better consistent hours for your employees would be beneficial- no one wants to be at their job 9:30- 7 at night just to make ends meet. Would you want to work that long with multiple hour breaks in between? Oh, wait—- you can leave whenever you wish and you don’t come in before your staff and DO in fact leave before them. Ha! This place is such a joke.

I worked at Asphalt Green full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Your co-workers are the only thing to get you through a day

    Cons

The only way to move up in the company and to make sure you won't be fired is by getting with the senior staff team. Favoritism plays a HUGE party with them. And the front line and middle management get the poor end of the stick even though those are the ones who put themselves out there everyday while SS hides behind them. Don't trust the people you work with. They are only there for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Advice to the board is to get a new CEO and start over!

I have been working at Asphalt Green part-time for more than a year

    Pros

No pros to mention about the company.

    Cons

Not a company that promotes team work. Not a safe and clean environment. Senior management promotes intimidation and a toxic environment. No concerns for employees, rather they treat employee's like cattles, ranging from the employees on the floor to the employees that work internally. Since they claim to be nonprofit their only concern is generating funds to stay alive. The company needs a internal clean up to... flush out the toxicity it has and is harboring against its own employees.

I worked at Asphalt Green for more than 5 years

    Pros

This place has a great pool, and some great community programs.

    Cons

Pay is low, benefits suck. To much money and time is spent on the soccer programs. Employees in aquatics are made to feel like scum by guest services because they are usually minority black and latino teens. They are often treated as is they were hoodlums and not worthy of anything.

    Advice to Management

The customer is not always right. Rules need to be enforced. And members should not always get their way especially in the pool and gym. To many people In this community are used to getting their way and are antisocial.
