I have been working at Associated Banc-Corp full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great CEO. Down to earth guy driving the company to do better. Big into growth by acquisition. Large talent development team; they want you to do well. I have a non-customer facing position; I experience great job flexibility. I easily able to leave a little early and stay later a different day; work around appointments and kid's functions. Generally feel appreciated.

    Cons

Pay and Benefits in general are middle of the pack; best is 8 weeks maternity paid leave; worst is they tend to undervalue positions and the pay will show it, putting them below market. Cross department collaboration is fair to poor. Not sure if its competition or not appreciating each other, but we need to do better sharing knowledge/skills when its easy to see some departments are successful while others are not and could use their ideas/tools too but they don't know even know another department has them. Efficiency is fair- too much re-work from simple mistakes.

    Advice to Management

The re-orgs are happening too frequently, leading to feeling less security. Nothing worse than seeing people hired and then let go due to position elimination within 18 months because management didn't have foresight to know department's needs in the short term.

    I worked at Associated Banc-Corp full-time

    Pros

They offer an excellent benefits package. This would be a good position for someone just starting out in banking and/or sales. They offer comprehensive paid training.

    Cons

I would not recommend this bank to seasoned banking and/or sales professionals. Their adherence to a strict "script" is not suitable for those with more experience and is not conducive to building an ongoing rapport with your customers. I also did not appreciate the fact that I was forced to open one of their bank accounts to get paid.

    Advice to Management

Allow your scripts to be more of a guideline for sales staff.

I worked at Associated Banc-Corp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours and some positions can be worked, occasionally, from a remote location (i.e. home)

    Cons

Colleagues are not held accountable for the quality of their work (or lack thereof). Those without integrity are often rewarded, and there is little management support to change this situation. HR labels those who try to work with them to improve the situation as "problem" employees.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN to employees and review source of data before blindly accepting it. Do not continue to reward poor performance.

I have been working at Associated Banc-Corp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really do enjoy my job. I learn something new everyday and as I get more established I enjoy that people start asking for me specifically for help with their situations. Great benefits and work life balance. The outlook for advancement seems pretty strong.

    Cons

My biggest area of dissatisfaction is in regards to training and development. My onboarding was a nightmare. Nobody seemed to know what was going on, and I was left to figure things out on my own. It kind of put a bad taste in my mouth. During my interview I was told several times that I would go through extensive training, however that has yet to have happened. Overall disappointed in that regard.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on training and development. A new employee shouldn't feel like an inconvenience to their branch if they are unfamiliar with certain things.
