    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Associated Banc-Corp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexibility. As a salaried employee the flexibility is great. There are opportunities for advancement but they heavily favor the men in the organization.

    Cons

Sexism is, and always has been, a serious issue with the organization. From salaries and bonuses to positioning men (especially those in sales) for success. Women are often given the grunt work and disproportionate workloads while their male counterparts are fed referrals and given smaller workloads. This affords them more time to focus on sales, networking and internal partnering. All of which tie back to the bonus...

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes. There is significant mismanagement in this organization. You have lost countless employees that are top in their field and yet you continue to deny there is a problem. Many of those same employees have expressed these same concerns during their exit interviews but nothing is ever addressed. It's only a matter of time until someone has enough information to support these claims. When that happens it won't...

    Pros

Associated Bank is a well known brand in Wisconsin. They have a few long term respected individuals within the bank and a handful of others that run their departments effectively by training and empowering their teams to succeed. Truly some wonderful people that want to be successful and help their customers be successful.

    Cons

No culture of success or respect. Too many new leaders brought in across the bank based on relationship with top execs or where they used to work but no knowledge of business or market. Relationships are preached, but not followed because the people brought in don't have a history of creating or retaining them. They are academics or transactional bankers that believe every market is a cookie cutter and have no concept...

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees. Instead of spending more money on consultants and overblown ego's to add to your team, ask people what their customers are asking for and help them find ways to meet those requests.

    Pros

If you work in sales or operations you're well off, and have the ability to relocate if you don't like your manager.

    Cons

Corporate management is dictorial and political. It fosters a culture of cut-throat exclusivity. The Corporate Strategy Officer is systematically replacing tenured employees with interns he's personally trained.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the Hitler of corporate strategy. The community of employees have good ideas as to what the company should do to improve procedures and departmental efficiencies. Management teams are frighted about losing their jobs - meaning they'll execute any resource-draining idea proposed to remain in good standing. Having people who are too scared to stand up and say no, is a really good way lose money, resources and...
