I worked at Assumption College (More than a year)

    Pros

Very professional, fully accredited Campus Police Department. Most of the Officers treated me with respect and as part of the team in an effort to keep all those on campus safe. Decent pay and seeming opportunity for advancement. They also made the Security Officers as comfortable as possible, with a security building fully equipped with air conditioning/heating, tv, computer, fridge, and safety features built in.

    Cons

Standing all day could lead to knee problems. A couple grumpy cops, and having to deal with the drunk antics of 18-20somethings is always fun. Other than that, not much to complain about. Overall a great position.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that the word is out to the students that the security officers are deserving of as much respect as any other employee of the college.

Not much room for promotion. Not many departments but a good time!

    Advice to Management

Have fun with what you do

I have been working at Assumption College full-time

    Pros

Excellent work-life balance, flexible, coworkers who care about you, free tuition, free fitness center, beautiful campus, a wonderful president, outstanding faculty, professional development opportunities

    Cons

technology could be better, need a better area for faculty and staff to congregate -- a more modern Campus Center would be great.

I have been working at Assumption College full-time

    Pros

The faculty here was exceptional to deal with and the Sodexo supervisors worked well together

    Cons

Working here was a challenge with the different socioeconomic children. Some of temp were respectful but most considered themselves above the maintenance crew.

I worked at Assumption College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Assumption College offers a small community environment that some people can thrive in. There is also always something to do for such a small campus

    Cons

It can become tiring to stay in such a small environment for so long. Sometimes promotions are given based on current sentiment rather than tenure and skills.

    Advice to Management

    Value all employees more equally

I have been working at Assumption College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a small school so they take care of each other. You can get tuition remission which is huge!

    Cons

The small Catholic school can sometimes feel like a small Catholic school. There is movement toward making the school more Catholic which hasn't been going over very well.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to make the school something it isn't
