I worked at Assurant full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People/coworkers are nice and lax dress code is a plus.

    Cons

layoffs every month. Big one +70 back in Feb 2017 and 10-15 folks every month since. The morale is snake-belly low and everyone on my team is actively looking for a new job. Pay is low on that of that avg 15 per hour and now most teams have been cut to two-thirds its normal size the workload has stacked up for everyone. Folks are stressed out because of the VP's, directors & senior management have ran the company into the ground. If you are thinking of joining the company the choose is ultimately yours.

    Advice to Management

Ax a few directors and senior management. They are the ones making the decisions thus running the company into the ground, so bring in fresh new leadership to bring the company back to life. Downsize the building and save money on rent. Heck, its a ghost town with all the empty cubes.

    Pros

Nothing at all. This is such a depressing place.

    Cons

Allow employees to work at home full time to avoid the horrific traffic nighmare. Get better IT. Stop overworking your employees and paying below market average.

    Advice to Management

Stick up for your employees. Understand the business. Take in to consideration the huge boom of traffic that is now in the area and consider allowing your company to go full telecommute. Rent the space saved to the new real estate ventures in the area and save your company money by letting them use there own internet and electric. Treat all employees fair.

    Pros

Great place to work and learn. Majority of employees have been with the company many years and the company does a lot for its employees. The miami campus is beautiful and has everything you'll need inside. From gym to a full out cafeteria.

    Cons

They offer great benefits but their pay is low compared to other companies. They're way behind when it comes to technology and innovation. Maybe that comes with the insurance industry. Growth can be slow if you settle in and promotion don't equal to much of a pay raise.

    Advice to Management

Upgrade your technology. With so much out there to learn there is no need to be stuck in the dark ages of tech. This will bring efficiencies to your processes and better results for your clients. Lastly, don't be afraid of change. Just because it's been done a certain way does not mean it can't be improved. And don't stop treating employees as your number one asset.
