    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Assurant

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and support for telecommuting. Some positive moves towards modernization and cost reduction which, if carried out correctly, could remove much of the dead wood, making way for more energetic employees.

    Cons

Very poor approach to software development. Lack of methodology in software development, antiquated systems, lack of communication on the part of business analysts and management. Talented developers had a way of turning invisible to middle managers and were thus, forced to look elsewhere for professional and personal development. My middle manager was wholly unresponsive when it came to fulfilling administrative...

    I worked at Assurant

    Pros

When i joined this firm had some scope to perform good work and improve yourself...Now all those days are gone and all you see here is politics ...

    Cons

There are 2 class of people here...People who work hard (very few in number and unfortunately not in the buddy list of the top management) and People who hardly work and take credit for all the work done by the class 1 and move ahead .The class 2 crowd is heavy these days in Assurant and assurant solutions management blindly take sides with those people. End of the day, lot of hardworking people are leaving the company...

    I worked at Assurant

    Pros

Overall this is a great employer to work for : cares about employees, not to mention higher-than unsual benefit package.

    Cons

Every now and then entire departments are closed down . I've seen management privileged friends and family instead of qualified people.

    Advice to Management

Management , please don't hire your best friends and focus on bringing in people that actually knows what their doing!

    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Assurant

    Pros

Company shares are worth investing Flexibility to work from home available for few departments

    Cons

People who are close to directors or VP's are promoted eventhough they are not worth a penny. The worst part is able candidates are pushed down or to side and will be forced to work under these kind of "promoted" leaders. These folks after getting a promotion just dictate around and make the life of people around miserable. A lot of them have only seen the life in Assurant and have no knowledge of how the industry works...I...

    Advice to Management

Recognize merit while promoting from within rather than just giving raise to people who just show off. A lot of outsiders with limited knowledge about company background are now running the solutions business..This may definitely hurt the company in the long run
