I worked at Assurant full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay and good benefits. Understanding and thoughtful supervisors and staff.

    Cons

Have to plan vacations a year in advance

    Advice to Management

I hope there has been a change in the ability to schedule vacations less than one year prior. I do understand how incredibly difficult scheduling is and can be in a big organization, or, even in a little one!

I have been working at Assurant full-time

    Pros

Good benefits. Remote work is possible.

    Cons

Great company value, but not practiced. Instead, it creates a fearful culture.

    Advice to Management

Give your employees permission to make mistakes and encourage honesty and integrity. Most importantly, give your top talents permission to succeed.

I worked at Assurant full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers, good benefits

    Cons

It's who you know, not what you know. Everything is managers discretion. If your manager doesn't like you life is horrible. You get talked to like you don't have a brain, obvious and blunt favouritism, micromanaged, and your work overviewed and questioned daily, even with excelling numbers.

If you like brown nosing and doing work your manager and Team Lead get credit for, this is the place for you!

    Advice to Management

Focus on who does the work, not what a manager has to say.

    Pros

    Some good benefits,
    Some great staff
    Some good ideas

    Cons

Middle management below the Exec level are too happy with pretending it is still the 90's Block every idea, block any new direction.
    Expenses are much too high.
Technology with no investment for decades is now woefully out of date.
HR are not working to help the company but to keep their own crazy processes in place to keep their jobs
A US company that does not care about anything but the share price and profits.

    Advice to Management

Lose the senior staff who are crippling your business with their empire building.
    Outsource the IT
    Outsource the HR
Listen to your staff - they are trying to help you

I have been working at Assurant full-time

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, good benefits and PTO

    Cons

Terrible leadership, management, and processes. Managers and business leaders half listen, and take no concern of issues when they are mentioned until it becomes too big to ignore. Only care about profits, not client or employee satisfaction. Everyone is horribly underpaid. Was promised upward mobility at hire, which will likely never happen.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better. Listen to those you manage. Stop ignoring issues until they get too big to ignore.

I have been working at Assurant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits; decent pay; work/life balance - enjoy working with my team and direct managers.

    Cons

More work from home opportunities should be explored with the ever growing traffic issues in Atlanta. No real maternity/paternity policy in place. System issues are continuous.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with current benefits trends to help better retain and attract employees. Implementing progressive changes will help the perception of Assurant as a place potential employees will want to work at.

I worked at Assurant full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits. Work from home days (depend on the department) are nice. Cool office in Midtown. They try to create a work/life balance. Some managers are more flexible than others, but people commuting from far suburbs should have more flexibility, especially when being in the office is not a requirement to create good work

    Cons

Boys club. Moving the cool office in midtown to the other, more corporate office in Windy Hill. Senior management is out of touch. No holiday bonuses. Not much upward mobility. Lots of outsourcing to contractors in India. Seemingly high turnover of talent. The way they laid off some team members was devoid of compassion

    Advice to Management

Talent is quick to leave because they can find a company with competitive pay and a much better work environment. The move to get rid of the Midtown office was an incredibly stupid one. Not only is Windy Hill a boring, and congested area which will get worse with Braves traffic, but the Midtown office kept the company competitive in attracting creatives from different areas of Atlanta. The walkability of the Midtown office was a huge plus and this is an example of how the senior management is out of touch with what the employees want. Since the announcement of the office change, there has been a mass exodus of talented, creative people. Assurant stifles creativity.
