I have been working at Astellas Europe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great intentions from the majority of people. Good working conditions, restaurant, coffee, cakes, parking etc. Shame this is the best that can be said about the company. HR and Finance trying to change company, but MC resisting heavily

    Cons

MC is an out of control Kindergarten, with no one making them behave professionally. No direction, to much infighting. To busy fighting and trying to trip each other up (smiling faces with knives in your back). No control which cascades down and impacts those that are trying to make a difference. To heavy a reliance on external Consultants. Complete lack of development opportunities - real old boys network.
Lots of nice publicity espousing change and flexibility - none of which is practised

    Advice to Management

Change MC team to one that acts like a true leadership team, which is focussed on the companies future rather than individual petty gain

    Pros

Many Professional people are working here. Teams do their best to achieve company goals and there are good relationship within teams

    Cons

Redundancies are part of life but this experience has been made exceptionally difficult by Astellas with no respect for employees who has worked dedicated for them for many years. They only care about saving money and getting rid of people when their is no financial reasons why they should act like it

    Advice to Management

    I have no words

I have been working at Astellas Europe full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Above average pay for all grades. Good modern office.
Good and very professional staff often more knowledgeable than their line managers

    Cons

Senior management pretty invisible. Fear of being sacked for past compliance issues. Like of opportunities of promotion unless someone senior considers you

    Advice to Management

Recognise that the staff at Astellas has delivered excellent sales and profits for many years. Why to sat now that everything from the past was wrong?

I have been working at Astellas Europe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It sales amazing Danish pastries and the summer it is lovely to eat out on the decking by the lake. It is surrounded by a beautiful wooded area where one can take nice walks, pick delicious mushrooms, sloes and blackberries.

    Cons

The company used to be run like a kindergarten and now the atmosphere is more akin to that of an orphanage run by Catholic nuns where every child is considered a sinner. Joining Astellas as it stands is likely to make you lose your confidence, deskill you and diminish your chances of ever finding a job again.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the nasty self-serving leaders, bring leaders who are interested in people, rename the company. It's worked with Arthur Andersen who these days no one seems to remember who they were and the old Agence du Médicament, who renamed itself Agence Nationale de la Sécurité to try and pretend they had nothing to do with the thousands of deaths caused in France by Médiator long after the slimming pill had been withdrawn from most country.
