    Pros

Everyone felt valued for their contributions, team environment and the CEO has the highest level of integrity of anyone I've ever worked for. Richard always engaged/interacted with all employees, truly caring about each and everyone of our success and job satisfaction and the customer satisfaction was his top priority and driving revenue to the business.

    Cons

unfortunately the company closed then sold out

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Astor & Black full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, technically. Clothing allowances. Working with different clients everyday. Building relationships with high net worth individuals. Some creative expression.

    Cons

Very little appreciation or career advancement. Senior management oblivious as to the facts on the ground. The CEO (Richard Dent) made promises to the sales force that he didn't keep.

    Advice to Management

Listen more. Incentivize successes. Reinstate some form of mentorship program. Establish more accountability/transparency of mid-level management.

I worked at Astor & Black full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The schedule is flexible and sales people have a lot of control over their own schedule. The experience is certainly educational and people who work there never look at fashion the same ever again (in a good way)!

    Cons

The company seems to constantly put band-aids on each problem because they are too cheap to fix them correctly. I also think the company grows much faster than what they are prepared for, which leads them to place people in positions without proper experience and know-how. The support staff passes the buck and leaves the employees without the tools they need to effectively do their job. Too often clients get the run around because no one in the company really has the answer and everyone else makes excuses for whoever screwed up; no task is ever complete

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to spend money in appropriate places. Hire people who are qualified for a position, not just because they are your friend.

    Pros

If you're in sales, the company will roll out the red carpet for you. It's a cool brand to associate yourself with. If nothing else, the workplace is...educational.

    Cons

The company is constantly in a state of big transitions. Communication between upper management and corporate staff is dismal. People are constantly stressed out. There are a few high performers that do everything while slackers go unnoticed. It's a frustrating environment.

    Advice to Management

Empower the work force to achieve the greatness you want from them. Improve communication and transparency. Get rid of dead weight.

    Pros

Lots of flexibility, laid back work environment, clothing incentives, young coworkers, woman-friendly, fast paced, internal mobility, growing company with lots of opportunity for the right fit

    Cons

low opening pay rate, difficult parking, only one week vacation after a year of employment, no sick time until 1 year, can be chaotic and unprofessional, high turnover due to stressful situations and low compensation

    Advice to Management

need to develop hr department and figure out true values of positions and not start everyone off at the same rate, more incentive programs and 401k program
