    Pros

This is going to be hard, hmmmm. Some of the people are ok.

    Cons

AZ, what a shame. This place is blame central. Managers and Directors protecting their own roles by not wanting to give bad news that their reports tell them about and then they blame them when things go wrong. Pretty horrendous place to work if you are not a Scientist. Absolute obsession with outsourcing everything or in case of IT sending it to India, where they employee 5 times the people at less cost but get half the competence, such a bad model. AZ trying to put a shine on everything with their new HQ in cambridge which is quickly turning into a lavish money pit and no doubt the CEO's foley.

    Advice to Management

Stop the blame culture, stop the message that you should never give your manager or a director bad news as problems get buried.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Really science led company, open innovation approach. The true contributions to science make me proud. Good career opportunities for talent, very open culture. Transforming the company into a modern, agile, flexible company with a start up feel.

    Cons

High ambition, high workload, not always enough resource to deliver. Getting through challenging years re revenue. More attention to middle management and their way of working would be good.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, ethics and senior leaders, competitive salary & benefits package

    Cons

Big company, bureaucracy, slow decision making and in recent years, too many disruptive restructuring exercises. Not convinced by insourcing model that operates as a separate cost centre - not working!

    Advice to Management

Why wait so long to cut people costs when we all saw it coming last year?

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Optimistic culture leading people to believe in a bright future. Several recent drug approvals and more to come. Compensation on par with competition in most areas.

    Cons

CEO is too dominating and not accepting people with opinions against his own. Because CEO has hired extensively from his former company Roche a big chunk of 'old' talent in the organisation has left or is on the verge of leaving.

    Advice to Management

There is a world outside Genentech/Roche. Please consider why a significant number of your most talented people have voluntarily left AZN during the last year.

I worked at AstraZeneca as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

AstraZeneca is not just a multinational in operations, it is also truly multicultural and international in its staffing

    Cons

I did not stay long enough AT AstraZeneca to notice any frustrating aspect. I hope to go back after my current studies - if the opportunity presents

    Advice to Management

As a truly global brand AstraZeneca, please keep going for the best hires around the globe and do not be deterred by harsh migration policies by poorly informed self-serving politicians
