I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Research oriented company, great benefits and very good people to work with. Global culture, lots of opportunities if you are mobile and willing to take them.

    Cons

Most of the action is happening on the major sites, tough luck if you are out of the hub. The planning process is hectic and leads to the annual budget imbalances and desperate attempts to fix them in November-December timeframe.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the spirit of innovation but probably add a little bit more structure to your financial planning to avoid over tightening/loosing when it's not necessary.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. Company treats employees with respect. Diversity is king at AZ particularly good for females, African-Americans and LGBTQ.

    Cons

Morale is extremely low due to loss of revenue from patent expiries and resulting cut-backs on people, expenses, etc. Senior Leadership in the company is extremely disconnected from the rank and file employees. Leadership places more emphasis on meaningless tasks such as calls per month and entering useless information on Veeva than on important things like a Contracting Strategy that is conducive to gaining business.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. Understand the true business needs at the point where Account Directors interact with customers. set expectations that are truly meaningful and stop using Veeva as Account Directors have to keep shadow systems to capture truly important information about their accounts in order to effectively call on them and be able to transition them as alignment changes ocur.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall a great company with strong leadership from the top. Pascal is doing his best to guide the ship in the right direction. A lot of talented people and great benefits (good pay, bonus, retirement plan, etc.).

    Cons

Way too many organizational changes with job reductions during my tenure. I've seen good people let go so the company can hit year end targets and then they back fill the position in the new year.

    Advice to Management

Try to cut down on the number of organizational changes and job reductions, it does impact employee morale. Also, I've seen a lot of money wasted with one leader going in one direction and then there is an org change and the new leader goes in a new direction which wastes resources.
