I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Looking to promote from within

    Cons

High pressure environment results in too much pressure on sales reps, which results in sales reps leaving, whether they are force to leave or told to leave.

    Advice to Management

Work with reps more and don't put so much pressure on them

    Advice to Management

More education for entire team, better vacation plan.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Many avenues for advancement

    Cons

Too volatile of an industry. I achieved 54% market share, and was let go without warning or reason, due to territory restructuring. Also, training was ill structured for people who are new to pharmaceutical sales.

  7. "Great Work Life Balance"

    Pros

Great Work Life Balance and benefits. I also liked the management

    Cons

I heard salaries at other pharma companies were more competitive, but I don't know for sure.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company culture and colleagues generally great. They look after their employees. Company is buying in many new molecules (small and large). Opportunities for development are there for some. Also the company is getting busier and hence individual workloads are increasing.

    Cons

Can be hard work getting cross functional collaboration when processes aren't defined. Not sure the pay/benefits are competitive as other large pharmaceutical companies.

    Advice to Management

Make decisions regarding priorities and execute effectively and quickly so group resource is focused in the right areas.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good team. Good benefits. Good training.

    Cons

Industry not secure. Had consistently high sales numbers and awards that is not considered at lay off time. Some of the highest sales contributors of the company got laid off across the country and other low producers were kept in their territory. Seems like a lack of common sense when choosing who to keep and who to lay off.

    Advice to Management

If I were running a company, it would be obvious to me to keep those with consistently good sales numbers and let go the ones who struggled with sales in their territories. Instead of laying off by computer or metrics put the common sense human factor back in - it would save your business and your reputation.
