    Pros

    Good pay that is competitive.
    People are very congenial.
There are opportunities to create projects or apply for MSL point roles.

    Cons

Although they talk about work life balance it can be challenging when you are trying g to meet metrics. They've downsized twice in one year due to lean pipeline although trying to ramp up for 2018 hoping to be productive.

    Advice to Management

Be reasonable with the focus and metrics. Now that there is a new configuration of some teams now is the time to be very supportive as training/on boarding and new territory is explored.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

-Very good benefits (6% match on 401k plus another 3% to 7% company pension contribution, depending on age & tenure, without employee contribution required)
    -Good pay
    -Good pipeline especially in oncology
    -Good products

    Cons

-Pipeline is very weak outside of oncology
-Big pharma mentality (although not as bad as some other big pharma companies, a lot depends on your direct manager and his manager)
-A lot of big revenue products have and will go off patent soon
-Sales employees have to pay $160 per month for personal use of company car
-Cost of health insurance has gone up in the past few years but AZ still pays approximately 90% of the cost

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you have a good manager life can be good at AZ. In 13+ years I had 7 managers. I was lucky that most "got it". Good 401K, full match up to 6%, recently gave all employees the last week of the year off.

    Cons

A few years ago the Brits were in charge of leadership. I refer to my time then as the Renaissance Period of AstraZeneca. Sadly, after they left things rapidly went down hill. Leadership blames it on LOE of a few products but I believe it boils down to mismanagement of money and corporate greed. The latest layoff included 700 employees one week before Christmas with zero notice. I was about to walk out the door for work when I saw a text from my manager telling his team not to go in the field until he called us all to let us know if we were employed or not. What a way to thank your people. Thanks Rudd! I was offered a job in 5 various cities in the US but was required to make a decision within 5 days. Um...thanks but no thanks I'll just take the package and work for someone else. The company retains under-performers. The recent realignment in CV TA made little sense to managers and reps. As a result, a lot of good people left the company. Too many me-too drugs. Incentive packages change frequently.

    Advice to Management

I realize we are all just a number when working for Corporate America but wow. When you don't take care of your people they are not going to take care of you. When you ask the field for cost-cutting measures and they offer advice, don't reward them with last minute lay offs.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time

    Pros

Incredibly talented people working to make a real difference in people's lives. It's rare to work in a place surrounded by people who are at the top of their game, and it makes you work harder and learn more in a short amount of time...you see what you're really made of. The stakes are high and they demand the best from you...but in return you are treated well, taken care of, and leadership provides a high level of transparency and respect.

    Cons

Every job has it warts; technology could be better, as could inter-departmental communication. Processes could be better streamlined, but those are growing pains every large company is going through.
