I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Alderley Park = best pharmaceutical R&D site in the UK period.
Use the most amazing technology in a science focused organisation.
Working environment = no dress code + mostly great people who are really friendly.
Much less bureaucratic and corporate since the 2013 shake up.
The higher ups are genuinely passionate about science, collaboration and R&D +++++

    Cons

Moving to Cambridge and all that goes along with that.
....A nice looking building if you don't mind waiting a decade to move in,
Money's good, but check their redundancy stats = not the best.

I worked at AstraZeneca as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very competitive salary with fantastic amenities (shuttle buses, bicycle scheme, onsite services like dry cleaning). Lovely buildings with transport links between all.

Extensive training and milestones to ensure on track development and exposure to variety of disciplines.

    Cons

Everyone is very busy and meetings do get changed at last minute frequently. Senior management often out of office due to multiple sites making access to them difficult.

    Advice to Management

Once the new building is occupied it might not be so much of an issue, but I rarely ever saw senior management in the building.

    Pros

Excellent employer with well-enforced code of conduct, strong collaborative culture, a focus on entrepreneurial leadership, and clear vision and strategy.

    Cons

Recent changes to geographic footprint has resulted in a lot of disruption and the loss of a lot of talented individuals.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build on work done connecting and integrating different parts of the business.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great product and opportunity to help prevent morbidity and mortality of patients with CV disease. Company infrastructure us improving but a long way to go. Need better focus.

    Cons

Politics getting in the way of launch plans. Company hires people with expertise, and then Senior Managers who have no experience in the disease area but have longevity start to interfere and try and control the approach in the wrong way.

    Advice to Management

Allow the experts you hire to get on with the job and prevent opportunistic egoists from interfering

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Plenty of scope for progress up career ladder. Opportunities to handle projects and business as usual. Great, committed people and good culture.

    Cons

Working in an environment of constant transformation & change, year in / year out, you have to adapt to this or fail!
Going through even more change now, involving geographic moves of people.
Lots & lots of change, all happening at same time - difficulty in seeing th bigger picture

    Advice to Management

Need to prioritise what needs to be done today and what can wait until tomorrow.

I have been working at AstraZeneca part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work flexibly, good rewards package, plenty of opportunities to develop and progress

    Cons

Constant change, lots of 'near-shoring' and 'off-shoring'
It's not the astrazeneca way to admit when projects don't work - lack of ability to recognise and acknowledge mistakes

    Advice to Management

When implementing projects that will affect people, make sure you consult with the right people.

    Pros

    Good facilities
    Flexible working arrangements
    Ability to work from home

    Cons

Some people had to work everyday of their notice period (3 months, 6 months or 1 year) and other get to have a year off on full pay. No consistency between functions which cause tensions.
Career ladder limited if not in a Science based role

    Advice to Management

Need to treat all individuals the same. Huge salary discrepancies
