I worked at Atherotech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, pay, and work hours are good. Company culture used to be excellent and when I first started there I enjoyed going to work every day.

    Cons

Company is very unorganized as a whole. Management makes too many continuous changes, no feeling of job security. No communication, no accountability for employees.

    Advice to Management

Get organized. Start holding people accountable for their mistakes and communicate changes before they happen, not after. Listen to what your employees have to say regarding new ideas.

I worked at Atherotech (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, very nice people to work with just never time to get a break. I learned a lot from there. I loved my bosses but just too much work for the amount of employees we had.

    Cons

Not enough time to hardly go to restroom, very stressful, expected way to much from employees considering the pay.

    Advice to Management

    Need to hire more people

I have been working at Atherotech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, and some really amazing people work for this company. Committed employees who want to make a difference.

    Cons

Management is the worst I've ever experienced. Too many titles and promotions undeserved for inexperienced managers with zero people skills. Good ol' boy network. Sadly many hardworking individuals go unrecognized at this poorly managed, poorly organized company with little communication, zero transparency, and reactionary management vibe.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house and start over.

    Pros

Great pay, benefits, holiday pay and overtime!

    Cons

The turn over rate is absolutely ridiculous and there's NO ROOM TO GROW!!!!. And management will throw you under the bus to save themselves.

    Advice to Management

    Care more about your employee!!!

I have been working at Atherotech full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Atherotech provides employment opportunities in a company which makes a real difference in people's lives through the provision of medical laboratory testing - strong emphasis on cardiovascular testing and patient support. The opportunities for learning never end, and the company has a strong record of promotion from within, overall. Still small enough to be appropriately reactive to industry needs and changes. The corporate culture still manages to be welcoming and pretty inclusive; there is still a somewhat familial sense of all of us being in this together. Good benefits, and an HR Department which is always looking for ways to keep improving the workplace as a whole.

    Cons

We have grown very rapidly - which can be exciting, but sometimes the growth has the *feel* of tumultuous, almost out of control expansion. I suspect things are much more under control than they seem, though! There have been occasional lags as support staff catches up with sales, but that is pretty much a thing of the past. Occasionally, effective communications have suffered slightly as our numbers have grown - one segment of the company may not have as strong an understanding of new ventures as other segments may think they do. (Sort of the "I know all about this new test; therefore, everyone else must, too" mindset.) However, when this occurs it is generally corrected pretty rapidly, and I do feel everyone involved has the best of intentions - I don't think anyone is sitting on knowledge for power's sake, in other words.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for being visionary, keep us in the loop!

    Pros

Lots of proprietary test so sell and crush the competition

    Cons

Not well covered on many insurance plans

    Advice to Management

Make a more concerted effort to partner with reps in field. Trust that we are the ones who're trying to make it happen! No one who's in sales is going to not succeed when there's so much bonus and commission money at stake.
