    Big company working in diverse engineering sectors in multiple locations around the globe.

    Cons

    Big company so sometimes communication from senior levels gets distorted but this is improving with regular webinars and team meetings.

    Pros

    Onsite travel good, Left to do your own work, good software applications.

    Cons

    Lack of grading structure. Professional Development lack of guidance and support. Poor communication between disciplines and offices.

    Advice to Management

    Have better communication systems between disciplines.

    Variety of work
    Good technical teams
    Great progression (to a point)
    Good office locations and flexible working
    Great graduate scheme

    Cons

    Poor middle management,
    Lack of direction and glass ceiling hit once you hit certain grades
    Pay/grades are not transparent
    Expected to work beyond your contracted hours for no reward

    Advice to Management

    Atkins is what you make of it, work hard and get to know the right people you will go far.

    Their apprentice and grad scheme is excellent.

    Generally a great company to work for if you put the graft in

    There is always a potential for job uncertainty when working for an engineering consultancy.

    let you take initiative,
    salary isnt too bad

    teams are separated so you only ever mix with the same department,
    you are expected to take charge of your own development,

    Advice to Management

    perhaps a rotation for placement students every 6 months would be useful

    Pros

    People take time to invest in your future. For top engineers there are some very interesting projects worldwide.

    Cons

    Takes time to move up the ladder. Many graduates leave after the three years training, to competitors.

    Advice to Management

    Perhaps dont recruit that many graduates. Many are leaving anyway.
