    I worked at Atkins full-time

    Pros

Fairly few. Company is UK based and has little to no understanding or appreciation that the US market is significantly different.

    Cons

Very little strategic thought. Execs fairly incompetent.

I have been working at Atkins full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are wonderful. Everyone is friendly and helpful. But they are the worker bees. They truly do want to do a good job but it is management that handcuffs them.

    Cons

Management says they care about you, but they truly don't. They will throw you under the bus at a moments notice. Work conditions are deplorable. Salaries are below market. Benefits are not up to par to industry standards. You have to contribute way too much for things like health insurance, which lowers your salary even more. When I started 4 years ago until now, there was like a 95% turnover rate because of this.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue. You treat your employees like dirt and there is a huge turnover. These are good people who want to do a good job, but you don't reward them.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your people and less in your processes

    Pros

Had the opportunity to work with some incredibly intelligent and talented consultants.

    Cons

Culture and values started to change after PBS&J was acquired by Atkins. Going from privately held to publicly traded made a big difference.

    Pros

Job and a paycheck but in a house of cards.

    Cons

Wow, be careful! Atkins North America was acquired when Atkins in London bought a notorious US engineering based in Florida, PBS&J (Post, Buckley, Shuh and Jernigan). I didn't do enough research when hired and found out too late I was working for a company that has been prosecuted multiple times for serious illegalities, and some of the executives who participated but escaped prosecution are still there! PBS&J has been indicted for bribing government officials, illegal campaign contributions, and was a private company put on the chopping blocks to sell for being so poorly managed when several of the employees embezzled millions upon millions of dollars. As recent as 2016 the company was struggling financially because of legal costs and fines to the extent the focus became finishing out existing contracts rather than procuring new ones...an indicator they do not want new business and are likely to chop off the US engineering wing and spin those employees out to another company. Do your research before accepting a job there, the good old boy network that didn't previously get caught or prosecuted in the illegalities is still working there, and they haven't changed much in being secretive about what they are doing!! Get everything in writing as they are all about the bait and switch.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. You fired the new North American CEO this year and he was likely a good man who couldn't make the previous numbers because he wasn't lying cheating and stealing. Clean house of all of the old PBS&J employees, they are secretive and fishy and will tank Atkins in America.

I worked at Atkins full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Huge worldwide corporation. Will gain great experience with them. The have a wide range of disciplines as a project/construction management company.

    Cons

I don't really have anything bad to say. I enjoyed my stay with them. I left because it was hard for them to get more projects during that time and I found other opportunities to get busy.

    Pros

Incentives are the best reason to work for Atkins, they care about their employees.

    Cons

In some new businesses in the organisation, the structure is not completely set and thus causes confusion and friction.

    Advice to Management

Giving clear vision statements to business practices to reduce confusion and conflict
