I have been working at Atkins full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The new CEO has the company energized with a clear vision. We have reorganized to be more competitive and responsive to the market demands. Since I have been with the Company (over 6 years) we have more communications than ever before. The Company offers good benefits and a flexible work schedule that enhances a positive work-life balance. I hope to retire from here.

    Cons

I wish we could grow sooner than later so we can be a larger player in the industry.

I worked at Atkins full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great local teams and team leaders. Flexible work environment.

    Cons

Zero training budget. Stressful/ cyclical work cycle based off a dying industry. Culture was a facade: promises instead of results and outright lying to workers about direction/ strategy/ action plans. Most managers find a comfortable niche and avoid rocking the boat to survive. Frustrating changes in major organizational systems every 6 months - bogged down in procedure in an industry requiring a nimble approach. Company focused on making itself attractive for sale. Useless technical board. Cost cutting saw benefits slashed for long periods. Blamed workers for high wage costs while they all collected raises.

    I worked at Atkins full-time

    Pros

Overall job was ok. The job had decent pay and management allowed flexible work hours. The people (overall) were nice to work with.

    Cons

There was very little opportunity to advance or work on interesting projects. The work is not shared between offices; so one office could be dead flat and another office could be very busy.

    I worked at Atkins full-time

    Pros

Friendly, laid-back atmosphere, flexible work schedule

    Cons

Because of organization changes, people are laid off unexpectedly, The ones who are left are expected to pick up the extra work without being compensated. Expected to work overtime without compensation if you're a salaried employee, not enough work/life balance, pay is below average.
