I worked at Atlanta Hawks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The leadership team is awesome and truly wants the best for you and your career. The work environment is extremely rigorous, but the long hours are appreciated and recognized. Very much so a work hard, play hard attitude.

    Cons

Communication sometimes lacks through internal departments.

    Pros

Very progressive company as far as employee morale and benefits. Employs a diverse work force and welcomes diversity in all positions.

    Cons

Seems to be transitioning to a younger staff in all areas. Appears to lack concern for those employees not directly involved in operation of the basketball team.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the experience and dedication of long time staff members. Continue to work on communication throughout the departments in the company.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Easy scheduling, evenings and weekends only, supposedly highest paid part time job in he arena, great perks for a PT job.

    Cons

No longer than a 10 minute break for a 6-hour (or longer) shift, the position is no different than a guest services position, assigned supervisors are not kind when the main part of the job is to be kind to people, lack of proper hands-on training, long standing times, you never know what time you're getting off of work.

    Advice to Management

Treat your team members with the same respect that guests are treated with. In corporate at least a 20 minute break into 6 - 6.5 hour shifts (OSHA). Pay attention to retention rates, administer a staff survey on, shift supervisors and procedures.

I have been working at Atlanta Hawks part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job itself is fairly easy and very fun. You meet interesting people and everyone is so excited around you.

    Cons

The retail management sucks. The manager is very arrogant and self-interested. He has very little care for his employees. They also give very poor training to new employees. I was personally put in a potentially dangerous situation and lacked the proper training to respond correctly, resulting in my resignation from the company. I was also left to pick up the blame for the incident although I was doing my job as told, while the poorly advised supervisor had no idea how to deal with the situation resulting in the messy outcome.

    Advice to Management

You should learn to take accountability for mistakes made on your behalf. They blame employees for things going wrong, rather than facing the fact that they are money hungry and fail to train their new employees correctly.

    Pros

Great employees with a lot of character. Going to work everyday is actually fun. There are definitely perks if you like basketball.

    Cons

I would say the biggest con would be the separation of sales and other departments. There's definitely a divide but apparently that's how it is at every company that isn't strictly sales.

    Advice to Management

Make your employees love their jobs so they are ambassadors for the brand.

I worked at Atlanta Hawks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for an NBA team is a very exciting job that give you access to wonderful experiences that you cannot gain from other employers.

    Cons

Working weeknights and weekends but that comes with the territory of working for an NBA team. You have to expect that.

    Advice to Management

Upper management was very open. Held numerous town hall meetings with the staff and gave the staff to interact with the players during several annual events.

I worked at Atlanta Hawks part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Watch free basketball and living in Atlanta is cool, so is working In Sports

    Cons

Awful pay, can't sell anything. Management can't keep interest in product.

    Advice to Management

    Start the Sales staff over.
