I worked at Atlantic Records (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great fun environment full of creative and talented people

    Cons

Bureaucratic format of major companies like this often seem to trip itself with its own procedures and tape.

    Advice to Management

Allow interns to test out a day in different departments.

    Pros

Amazing experience! So many great opportunities and very down to earth employees.

    Cons

Really don't have any cons. It would be pretty cool to have some sort of snack, etc. provided! That would be awesome.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

Coworkers and supervisors are like family, fun perks like concerts, often promote from within and across departments, overtime, you will get to work closely with other departments which helps build a stronger understanding of the industry

    Cons

Long hours (10-12 hour days), starting pay is low but overtime helps, poor evaluation structure - there should be clear benchmarks to let employees know where they are succeeding and where they need improvement.

    Advice to Management

Work on setting up structure with clear benchmarks to let employees know where they are succeeding, where they need improvement and when they can expect a promotion.

I worked at Atlantic Records (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Marketing Project allows you to explore the music industry and ask questions
-was able to sit in on meetings and listen to album release planning and listen to music before it was recorded
-was able to ask questions to heads of department and was able to meet with people from other departments
-A lot of people at the company first started as interns before joining full time
-great bosses, friendly and good office culture

    Cons

-marketing project seemed like it was all fluff, you have no way of knowing if your ideas are even applied or acknowledged
-majority of the day is spent filling out the same excel sheet, which can get tedious at times

    Advice to Management

if there was any way to follow up with marketing project, like knowing that your ideas were actually evaluated when planning this release, that would be great. This would make the project seem much more meaningful

  9. "Legendary company, still going strong, but needs a few tweaks"

    Pros

Few legendary label brands still in the biz & doing strong, and Atlantic is one of them. Great roster of artists. Wonderful work environment, great people.

    Cons

Let go of the stereotypical assistant requests (fetching coffee, menial demands, etc.)

    Advice to Management

Promote from within & grow your current employees instead of seeking new hires from outside the company

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Atlantic Records full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a ton of intelligent, nice people. You can learn a lot from them, and for some people it seems very easy to make moves (lateral or otherwise) to other departments. I have a great work/life balance, but that seems to be dependent on what department you work in.

    Cons

It is very cliquey and it seems to be a popularity contest to be offered better opportunities, rather than based on merit and competence. This also applies to getting tickets to shows, etc. This is very discouraging for employees who work hard and are capable to see, bringing down overall morale. Very low pay for a lot of work.

    Advice to Management

Give hard working people more opportunities. Managers should be more supportive and invest in their employees, instead of picking favorites.
