I worked at Atlas Copco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very large corporation with a lot of money to buy small companies and turn them into big money making companies. They are willing to spend a lot of money and try to make back their investment in a short time as they have to answer to shareholders about their decisions and outcomes.

    Cons

The corporation is very erogant due to it's size and money. That makes them think that they know everything about all industries and recklessly place leaders that are very unfamiliar with the product and expect them to master very specialized and unique products in months. Not understanding that it takes years to begin to understand and 8 to 10 years to master. And they will not hesitate to ruin countless lives and carriers by closing down companies they can't turn into money making companies because they can't understand or master the product.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees with experience if you don't know what you are doing or need help in understanding how the company worked before you bought it. Your problem is you think you know everything, but you don't. Stop and listen to your employees to help the company succeed and then you might just have a chance to make it work and not ruin people's lives just because you think your ego is worth more than 75-300 employees. Shame corporate is so blind to this and is willing to take your management's explanation rather than the truth! WAKE UP!

    Pros

Global network of co-workers is a nice team building environment, this company is based in Sweden.

    Cons

Adherence to any sort of HR rules was non existent. You name it was happening. If your boss thought your were good looking, it was a breeze. Try working for bosses like that. Impossible to openly discuss day to day business without things being addressed honestly, or it not being held against you. Sons working for their parents. Brothers reporting to their siblings. Glad to be gone.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with HR rules and practices that are standard at large companies.

I have been working at Atlas Copco full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good vacation policy starting at 14 days, name recognition on a resume

    Cons

Below average salaries, vacation is discouraged, CYA is necessary, extremely pricey healthcare, no mobility between departments, managers at each others throats, LEAN style manufacturing with zero quality control on vendors so no parts are in or the parts you have are inferior in quality, nebulous job descriptions that include "do anything we say you have to", hourly workers regularly cheated on overtime, sales trumps all other departments

    Advice to Management

None, SRCC and HPC facilities profit margin speaks loudly enough. Negative growth over three years, greater than 50% turnover, only recent grads coming in, low morale, and warranty costs in the millions. They're sleeping in the bed they've made.

I worked at Atlas Copco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Atlas Copco makes a outstanding product. The ability to look up on their Computer System passed product was the best I've ever used.

    Cons

Atlas Copco has a very poor training program with little interest in seeing their employees succeed. I work for five different companies this is the worst company I have ever worked for.

    Advice to Management

Life is too short to work for company that is managed in their current system. Expect in your employees to work 12 to 14 hours a day 6 to 7 days a week is an incomprehensible.
