I worked at Atlus U.S.A. as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Good management
    - Great community
    - Gamer friendly
    - Understanding
    - You want to come into work
    - Fun, but efficient

I was extremely satisfied during my time as a Quality Assurance Tester at Atlus. The managers were communicative and I really bonded with my team. I was there for about four and a half months for one project. The pay was minimum with a great amount of optional overtime which was completely worth. We got a lot of work while still having fun. I would definitely give props to my managers Scott Strichart, Carl Chen, and Rob Stone for being communicative and fun. Definitely miss working with the team here. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a starting QA testing job.

    Cons

My only issues with the company is that the upper upper management can be a little shaky at times, but you won't really be interacting with them too much as a contract QA tester. Other than that, it's really hard to move up at the company which is to be expected since it's just a localisation office. I really wish they had an American developer team.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing QA leads.

I have been working at Atlus U.S.A. full-time

    Pros

You get lots of free stuff. That is really it. People are very nice so you enjoy working with them.

    Cons

The environment is very depressing, most people are sad to come to work and are burnt out.
The office is purely only Asian or white, seems management has a distrust of minority groups.
Pay is low for Irvine, very low.

    Advice to Management

Hire people who can do the job, I saw someones resume that was what we needed, except they hired a guy that they new and obviously didn't get the material.

I worked at Atlus U.S.A. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great games most of the time
-Being a part of the game industry
    -Warehouse of swag
    -Being loved by Kotaku

    Cons

    -Very poor upper management
    -Lots of miscommunication
    -No room for promotion
-Useless daily morning meetings that take longer than they should
-Very very slow approval process for projects

    Advice to Management

It seemed like the general manager was really the one running the company rather than the CEO. Unfortunately the GM was really overbearing, and no one seemed to take his direction well.

A majority of upper management are very traditional and old-school and it clashes with the younger majority of employees. There's too much of a gap between and projects go haywire because of this.

    Pros

You get to work in the video game industry. Decent benefits. It is not the same boring job ever day.

    Cons

Poor management communication. If you would like to move up in the company there is no room to move up.

    Advice to Management

Better respect for employees. Reconition for a job well done. Better communication. HR that shows up for work more than 2 days a week.
