I worked at Atrenta (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company. People and most management are generally friendly. Easy to work between groups and share information and help each other.

    Cons

Had a clique that had an element of micro management for outsiders. It ran off some very good employees. some returned when several of the members left the company.

    Advice to Management

I think advancement to a management position was limited to positions available. There weren't many and when 1 or 2 positions did open sometimes they would fill from outside.

  3. "Very friendly work environment"

    Pros

The work environment is very friendly. Co-workers are very helpful. Teams are very closely knit together, and working in such a team is very enjoyable for everyone. Works hours are flexible. All in all, work culture is really good. There's ample opportunity for new graduates to learn a lot.

    Cons

Sometimes, work load does not get uniformly distributed. People who keep contributing positively, keep getting lot of work. And their wok-life balance gets deteriorated.

    Advice to Management

Work-life balance needs to be improved. Also, company's road map needs to be made clearer.

    Pros

good products in demand with wide range of customers and compensation at par with the market.

    Cons

Not much freedom to execute change;employees rewarded for loyalty which leads to extra fat in the company ranks; product quality suffers due to lack of US based workforce

    Advice to Management

Hire more US engineers and make engineers responsible for product release dates and quality. Fire dead weight and poor performers to instill a better culture.

    Pros

Great working environment, employees are great people and the company is headed in the right direction. Location is very good too.

    Cons

Doesn't have the perks or benefits of working at a larger corporation, but this is to be expected of a smaller company.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Still operates as startup and so you get a chance to work in lot of functional areas

    Cons

    too much management hierarchy, signficant mgmt overhead when you compare ratio of employees to managers, lot of partiality in promotions and recognition. Too many inexperienced managers ;

    Advice to Management

reduce the mgmt overhead and follow industry guidelines; you dont have to promote 5yrs exp to mgr; they cannot guide and mentor the team..no need to act big like 5th largest ; have to show that in revenue and direction. Proper lack of vision is also hurting ; it wasnt like this before...ajoy needs to take charge and bring atrenta back to its good old days...

  10. "Atrenta is confused about its identity."

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Atrenta is still a startup. Hence, there is chance to stand out from the crowd. Plus, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are developing something that is useful to semiconductor engineers.

    Cons

In recent years the firm has become risk averse. It seems that the management has to show yearly revenue increases to investors. Which means that the work environment now prefers individuals who will tow the line and not rock the boat. If you believe in "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" dictum, then you would fit in in Atrenta. If not, then Atrenta of today could be a bit frustrating. It really is a pity because Atrenta wasn't always like this.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so risk-averse and stop incorporating big company processes. Atrenta is a startup and startups need to take risks. If you want to stand on your own as a product company, then at some point of time you will have to say no to the first eager customer that comes your way. Have some conviction in your original conviction of "predictive analysis". It was a great place to go to. What is not is developing custom tools for big clients.
