Pros
Support staff who actually support at the community when positions are open or questions arise. Senior management knows down to the details about what's happening at the community level. Dedication to staff and residents.
Cons
High expectations in a changing market lead to extremely long hours. Difficult to manage a work/life balance.

Pros
We are fully committed to promoting a wonderful life style for our residents. Rewarding and fullfilling work . Every day is different and experiences last a life time. We have a staff that works well together , sometimes we are like a disfunctional family but we always work it out. We work very hard but love what we do and our residents.
Cons
Long hours and sometimes it feels as if our corporation is disconnected from what is happening in the community. Regional management needs to be more focused on the positives of each community and not the failures.

Pros
Opportunity to make a positive impact on seniors.
Cons
Executive Directors at our community were awful. Are fired, replaced with corporate fill-ins who treated us bad as well. Not supportive. Minimal training for jobs, but expected to know and do everything. The regional and corporate management care nothing about the Directors or other employees. It is a constant revolving door of employees thru the organization. The turnover rate is something like 140% or more per year - meaning for every position, there is 1 1/2 people hired each year to do that job. If you review the positive ratings on GlassDoor, you will notice they are mainly from corporate executives in Kentucky - not in the suburban Atria communities. Pay is very poor for hours required of directors. You are used and then Atria 'throws you away'. They expect Directors to work extremely long hours for very poor compensation. Never a thank you or you're doing a good job. Work holidays, nights, etc... again with poor compensation and benefits. They offer incentives which don't pan out. Just need to pay excellent compensation and they will get good people and keep them. Poor employees stay because they don't have options. Good people leave - quickly after arriving. Compensation is about 50 % of what it should be. You are told it's a 40 hour a week job and it's 50% more than that with high pressure and long hours. Expectations of employees are unreasonable for compensation offered. They expect lots of unnecessary paperwork and reports to be done when important things are totally overlooked and not dealt with daily that would truly provide better care and positive way of life for the residents. Silly rules on what can and can't be done on the schedule that don't matter. Better to offer and provide what the residents, who are paying big bucks, want and should be getting.
