    I worked at Auctionata full-time

    Pros

    Good people and interesting experiences

    Cons

    Long hours and no overtime

    Advice to Management

    Too late...

    I worked at Auctionata full-time

    Pros

if you work hard you will be given a large amount of responsibility very early on in your time (this quickly can become overwhelming and little support will be given to assist you)

    Cons

Poor compensation, little to no voice with management, no reviews or feedback for professional growth or development

    Advice to Management

listen to your employees and stop placing band-aids over large problems instead of taking the time and money to actually fix them.

I worked at Auctionata full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you show talent, they will give you a lot of responsibility. Mostly to the point of over-exposure, but it does allow for access to all different parts of the company.

    Cons

You will be worked constantly then given more work with no increased compensation. The entire staff is so overworked that the passion that used to exist within the start-up environment is completely gone. The company itself is completely disorganized and can't seem to get it's footing. Working with the Berlin office is extremely difficult and you will receive absolutely no support from them. They will treat you like a second class citizen.

    Advice to Management

The Berlin office needs to be more supportive and collaborative with the NY office. They don't know the market and should be willing to listen to the advice and collaboration offered. Be more interested in long term gain over short term sparks.

    I worked at Auctionata full-time

    Pros

Still a startup atmosphere, room to work above and beyond your job description, lax vibe for an office setting

    Cons

Management will say anything they can to get you into the door then pull the rug from under you once you get inside. Its too much work for very little pay. They laid off almost all of the staff and compensated by promoting people who were under qualified, abusing interns and over working everyone. More than half of the people who worked there a year ago have moved onto greener pastures. The massive layoffs made no one feel secure as we all knew at any moment without a second thought, we could get the axe.

    Advice to Management

Boozy dinners and fancy perks dont make up for mistreating your employees. How will the business survive if the turnover rate continues.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Auctionata full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work at Auctionata is the positive work environment and start-up culture. The energy in the office is dynamic and youthful. The staff continuously works through new challenges faced each day as the company defines itself and grows. Everyone is approachable and dedicated. It is a rarity to find such a talented group of people who are so open, friendly, and smart.

This is the environment where you can carve out your own position, create and execute new projects and find a way to get things done. It is a place where you must be creative in your own approach. Find new directions and think critically. A company where each individual's contribution is counted, relied upon, respected and appreciated. It is this sense of purpose that drives the company culture.

The technology behind Auctionata is rapidly being created by engineers in Germany. They have some of Europe's finest programers innovating Auctionata's platforms. It is just as exciting to work for a tech-based company that is forward-thinking and brings real tech solutions to the live auctions and workplace.

    Cons

If you require constant supervision, cannot think critically or operate independently, this company will probably not fit your needs. If you are not looking to roll up your sleeves in order to grow in your career and develop as a professional who will go far, Auctionata is not that company. It is an environment that relies on collaboration and you must be willing to work across categories.

    Advice to Management

Continue with the Town Hall approach to educate all of the staff, globally. Using the live stream technology to reach employees, company-wide, impacts the staff positively. It provides a sense of direction to influence and guide day-to-day decisions.

    Pros

You get to work with really interesting works of art and luxury goods on a daily basis. There are tons of opportunities to become an integral part of the team by showing your strengths and taking an interest in the work. Micromanagement is at a minimum and everyone is expected to be independent and do their job to the best of their abilities. Auctionata is young and there is plenty of room to make a name for yourself. The company has lots of investors and has exciting times ahead.

    Cons

Not a good place for someone who is looking for an easy gig or needs a lot of hand-holding. It's still a start up and you will be expected to work hard and you will be depended on to do your job and sometimes asked to help pitch in with things outside of your job description.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging people to do great work and taking their opinions into consideration. The company-wide meetings are transparent and helpful to all of us.

I worked at Auctionata full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was interesting being with a start up auction house. A once in a lifetime opportunity to get on the ground floor of something. A pretty good team was assembled.

    Cons

No support from the Home Office. No chance to make a real impact. NY team was never integrated into the corporation, and decision making process. Most of the NY team was laid off less than a year in, even though we were on our way to success. Long hours.

    Advice to Management

Rely on the collective expertise of your staff.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Auctionata full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You learn to live off the land. You found a few good people and network. Learn to trust your judgement.

    Cons

No system or order. Specialist and management look down on the co-workers in there departments. If you are black or Hispanic no matter your job title, you will be asked to take out the trash and change light bulbs or install co-workers desk, while the CEO takes everyone else to lunch. I felt bad seeing how they treated the warehouse art handlers.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be fancy and learn the business.

    I worked at Auctionata full-time

    Pros

They're are some good people in the organization, sadly they have no influence on the company.

    Cons

Management is very disorganized and cowardly. Poor pay coupled with horrible hours, passing on any job opportunities here would be a wise decision. Management will tell you they're trying to change and they grew too fast but management is the issue. What makes this company even more interesting is the odd phantom bidding practices they practice.

    Advice to Management

Step down and let a third party evaluate the situation.

    I worked at Auctionata full-time

    Pros

Company jumped on the online art business quickly and with an interesting concept -- can auctions make money online? Sadly, the answer is ...no.

    Cons

Founders should rarely be CEO's and this is a clear example. CEO doesn't utilize the smart people around him and thinks he knows everything. Management just nod their heads and do as told, even if it makes no sense

    Advice to Management

Get a professional CEO who can make changes and ensure that smarter business decisions are made.
