I have been working at Audentes Therapeutics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Clear focus on rare neuromuscular diseases is very smart and refreshing to see clear focus at early stage of company. Growing pipeline has a lot of promise and career growth opportunities. Transparent company priorities and vision for the future. Rewards rolling up your sleeves and getting the work done. Very nice smart people. Good salaries and benefits.

    Cons

Fast pace can feel frenetic at times of peak activity. Not a deep bench, so be prepared to wear multiple hats and work on multiple programs. Only VPs have offices.

I have been working at Audentes Therapeutics full-time

    Pros

Some smart teammates, meaningful disease areas, thoughtful coronavirus reactions, and solid career opportunities for people who are well-connected to the existing ET members.

    Cons

The remaining ET members are new to these types of senior roles. Not very diverse.

"A couple of years ago it was an extraordinary place to work, it has turned into a test lab for endless employee despair."

I worked at Audentes Therapeutics full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    The benefits package is good.

    Cons

Senior leadership concerned primarily with their own self aggrandizement and compensation. If you aren't in an office when you start, you don't matter, and you won't ever get into one. Executive ego and "clicky" nepotism are so think in the air here it will make your hair itch.

I worked at Audentes Therapeutics full-time

    Pros

    I can't think of a single one.

    Cons

The company has no integrity, honor, or sense of right and wrong. It is a reactionary environment, which for a "startup" is an incredibly bad precedent since the company should be proactive during this time. My Interview was interesting as everything I was told seems to be contradicted in the "day in the life" part. I felt very discriminated against as my manager said somethings, which were very unprofessional and inappropriate to me. Managers' demeanor was, also an issue, as they were often rude unnecessarily, and didn't seem to have respect. Needless to say, my manager's conduct has made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

I worked at Audentes Therapeutics full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Breaking ground in gene therapy.

    Cons

Stay away from the manufacturing site in South San Francisco. Upper management is hands off with employees, Managers don't know how to manage, how to prioritize, or how to pitch in and help. There is also a healthy amount of nepotism going on.

I have been working at Audentes Therapeutics full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fast growth, a lot of learning - it's a start up.

    Cons

Stressful environment, too much work for the allotted staff #s, no space to have a meeting, aggressive timelines that are not realistic for staff, competing priorities, upper management disconnected with the low morale that exists among those who do all the work, when asked for additional staff the answer is always no. At some point you have to weigh your happiness and sanity over a job.
