    good possibilities but....

    Pros

Aurora offers good possibilities if you are a new graduate and looking to gain work experience. Generally, you have the freedom to work on important projects, and since it's still a small company, you will get wide exposure to many aspects of the energy market. A lot of people working there are intelligent, and there are a lot of social events to make friends. Work-life balance depends on you, but generally, I didn't find the environment as pressuring as some people mentioned earlier. Business is booming, and generally, they are a successful company.

    Cons

Salary is not competitive. Oxford is not London. There is no private health insurance, and employee pension scheme contribution is the lowest possible. Management is not flexible on work-from-home policies, and unfortunately, some of the career/'textbook'managers that they hired forget the startup nature of the company and try to incorporate management systems that belong to different types of organisations and compensation levels. This essentially means that you will experience unfairness, and your career progression will not necessarily depend on your performance. In addition, the company has a high turnover, with people coming and leaving literally every week. Behind the scenes, the company culture is broken, especially at the more senior level. I would not recommend the company to an experienced professional. However, it could be a good choice if you have recently graduated and fancy living in Oxford for a short time.

    Pros

You learn a lot about energy markets, as you are surrounded by experts. The people are young and international. The company is growing and there are growth opportunities.

    Cons

The Oxford office is old. Salary is not very good. Bonus is terrible and paid out annually. No benefits.

    Pros

Very smooth onboarding, fascinating work, colleagues who are deeply knowledgeable and hardworking while being very friendly and supportive.

    Cons

Limits to flexible/remote working. Speaking from the Commissioned Projects team, this wasn't a constant issue, but could become more acute in times where the workload was high (particularly for those who weren't based in Oxford and commuted in from elsewhere).

    Pros

You are in the heart of the energy transition and will have access to a vast array of projects and clients across the energy sector. Clients include governments, banks, developers, asset owners, asset managers and those involved in running the market. Projects range from valuing assets to working with governments to create new policy - hugely diverse.

    Cons

Hours can be very long, but this isn't a surprise given the type of industry we are in. Management are very upfront that some weeks will be 9-5, others may be full of 14 hour days.
