    I have been working at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work life balance in terms of flexible working - working from home, governance are getting better in terms of regulating employees behaviour and aligning to company's interest rather than self

    Cons

    Cost cutting measures are extreme compared with other organisation with restructuring and outsourcing constantly on the table, salary increases are kept to a minimum, hard to progress up due to reverse discriminations

    Advice to Management

    Take care of your own employees and they will take care of the bank

    I worked at Australia and New Zealand Banking as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * Modern head office building in Docklands.
    * Large financial resources to use for investments.
    * Regional operations and contacts.
    * Generally nice people (at the lower levels).
    * Good remuneration and staff benefits.

    Cons

    * Lost their way in Payments leadership over the past 5-10 years, however ANZ seemed to be addressing this by bringing in new talent from interstate / overseas when I left.
    * It takes a long time to deliver projects due to lack of people that understand end-to-end processes / systems / business model.
    * Bad technology (systems, laptops, etc.)
    * Hot desking / lockers at Docklands head office.
    * Senior leaders are not that nice or inspirational.
    * Too much politics, and less with getting on with the job.

    Advice to Management

    * Continue to bring in outside talent where it doesn't exist in-house - don't just promote people to fill the gaps, taking the easy way out.
    * Upgrade your technology infrastructure.
    * Introduce 360 feedback surveys to get a rounded picture of each manager.
    * Get rid of the hot desking / lockers.

    I have been working at Australia and New Zealand Banking full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Overall, ANZ is a great place to work. Good work-life balance. Great opportunities for career progression especially in the growing Asia Pacific markets. Good salaries, friendly atmosphere and supportive managers and colleagues.

    Cons

    IT support could be better. The bank is going through consolidating their IT systems which is a move in the right direction. However support is still currently below average. A lot of time wasted on unproductive meetings.

    Advice to Management

    - Improve the IT support for staff. A lot of time and productivity wasted as a result of inefficient IT support.
    - Measure the amount of time people spend on meetings and establish if this can be reduced with a view to improve productivity.
