    Pros

    Good work life balance
Friendly helpful people to work with
A lot of well meaning, genuine staff
    Lots of interesting intellectual challenges.

    Cons

Headed towards generic management roles, rather than valuing any specialist skills.
A lot of people waiting for retirement rather than wanting to drive any change.

    Advice to Management

Clear out the middle management, removing those that aren't interested in taking the organisation forward.

I worked at Australian Bureau of Statistics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are in a strong branch with interesting projects there is a lot to be a part of. The work is very relevant and as such is always interesting.

    Cons

Established government bureaucracy with some legacy systems make process improvement challenging but rewarding.

    Pros

-Good pay compared to the work
-They genuinely care about employees well being and safety and take sufficient measures. It is definitely a good organisation to work for.
-Definitely roles higher up give you more motivation as there is scope to make an impact.

    Cons

    -Monotonous role involving little creativity
-There wasn't much drawbacks except for the fact that my role was very limited and there was little I could do or change.

    Advice to Management

The top down approach needs to be changed and some feedback taken in. While my team leader did a terrific job, a lot of the tasks became repetitive due to the approach by top management.

  11. "Survey Manager"

    Former Employee - Survey Manager

    Pros

    - Great supervisors and line manager
    - Good positive culture
    - Recognise talent and will promote if big wigs let them
    - Flex Time/Paid Christmas shutdown

    Cons

    - Very hard to get permanency. Was on contract to contract for entire time of employment despite being promoted twice. Some colleagues have been on contract for 5 years+
    - Seems most the decision making is from top down, often by higher management that don't seem to understand how thing work on an operational level.
