    Overworked and Underpaid!

Jul 5, 2021 - Claims Service Representative II in Bakersfield, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    1. Decent Benefits 2. Pension 3..WFH 4. Tuition Reimbursement 5..Stable Company / Never Layoffs

    Cons

    1. Salary Below Industry Average 2. Compensation. The company is constantly adding on responsibilities previously performed by other departments with no additional compensation. We're being told it makes the CSR more well rounded. WHAT?!!! 3. Old Boy Network 4. Obsolete Infrastructures. Systems and processes are archaic which makes the job harder to do in comparison to other insurance carriers. 5. No Work/Life Balance. Schedules can change with no advance notifications. 6. We're constantly being reminded other insurance companies are leaving CA due to the high cost of doing business. It's a veiled threat that were lucky to have jobs so stop complaining. The job you save may be your own?

Working as a Retail Service Specialist

Aug 7, 2021 - Consumer Services Specialist in San Diego, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

It’s a steady job with good medical benefits, 401k, and coworkers

    Cons

Not a good work/life balance. Work week is 6 days. Computer systems old software. Company needs to take some autonomy training. Make your employees happy and your business will thrive. The company threatens a lot! Morale is low. People want to feel like they matter! what you do has an impact that you’re engaged in relevant work and you’re making progress that your work is having an impact and leading you and your organization forward. The salary is low and raises are pennies.

    No work/life balance

    Pros

Many locations. You can transfer if you move.

    Cons

Low pay. I started in 2016 and got a decent raise in 2017. I got raises of only .10/year after that. I worked there from 2016 to 2020. No work life balance. You work 6 days a week. They go around this by making you work a 4 hour mid day shift on one week day and a 4 hour shift on Saturday. Little to no flexibility for time off, In 2017 they made a huge payroll error and accidentally over paid on bonuses to about 50% of the employees, company wide. The employees were contacted over a month later and then they demanded we pay them back or they would garnish our wages. This put a huge financial burden on me. When I became a travel agent in Jan 2018 they told me I would keep my base pay that I had as a customer service rep. In October that year I noticed on my paystub that they had actually been paying me $3 less per hour. I contacted HR and it took them 2 months to back pay me and fix it. Unacceptable.

Old style management, cut-throat sales floor, endless politics, unclear metrics to hit goals

Feb 26, 2021 - Insurance Sales Agent in Costa Mesa, CA

    Pros

-strong company, one of the oldest. -you can make a little under 6 figures if you HUSTLE, work overtime every week, take no days off, don't get sick, and don't spend any time helping your past customers with their issues that may come up. (address changes, policy rewrites, adjusting limits, adding drivers etc) -you can make over 6 figures if you do shady things, steal leads and write trash policies.

    Cons

-there is a sneaky lead distribution algorithm that no one will tell you about, where if you're off your numbers at the start of the month, you will get less incoming leads, and less quality leads. -there is no way to take time off, and come back to a positive work environment. At the start of the month, you want to stay up on your sales, so you get those better inbound leads. so you can't take time off then. In the middle of the month you need to push so you can build sales and keep your good leads coming in for a strong finish. At the end of the month, you need to push to hit goals and metrics to get paid more and get accolades, so you can't take time off then, either. ->One time I took a few days off after months of hitting #1 sales on my team, and getting diamond accolades, then came back and my inbound leads were basically dead, because the algorithm sees that you had no sales each day to start the month. So basically the only way to do well in this job and get paid well, is to work 6 full days per week whenever your manager lets you, and never take any time off. This setup just grinds you to the ground. Zero work/life balance. -You have to continually create new business, and also maintain all the business you've built. It starts to simply become too much work, (if you're doing well and making high sales) because the membership team can't do a lot of the policy changes and things that your accounts will need you to do at times. (and these things take your time, and don't make you money.)

    Pros

Good benefits in a stable company in a stable industry with opportunities to grow.

    Cons

A lot of work. Free time can be difficult to find if you do not have a good work life balance.
