I worked at AutoNation (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The training is fairly solid. Lots of opportunities in the company if selling cars does not pan out if you know where to look and who to talk to.

    Cons

Some sales people are hurting because of advertised pricing and the minimum commissions simply don't pay enough.

    Advice to Management

Change the pay structure to minimum commissions based upon gross profit and unit sales.

I worked at AutoNation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cant think of many, some of the people I met.

    Cons

Upper Management works with a bunch of Yes men, Constant change on the battlefield, Good people replaced by employees that quickly see they are in a no win situation with this company. Benefits are a joke - I paid for the Gold BSBC plan and the deductibles and co pays SOARED for 2017. That is for a nationwide company that employees 1000s of employees but they negotiate for the shareholders not the rank and file. Mike Jackson thinks he is a move star, the post when he will be on TV and encourage the employees to watch. I should have known what I was getting into when I asked for some pens on my first day and they told me they had none, or petty cash, or anything else. Really disappointing.

    Advice to Management

The share holders are important but unless you take care of the employees that make it happen its only a matter of time. . .

    Hours and days are long.

    I worked at AutoNation full-time

    Pros

Great place to learn the car business. Training is topnotch. And you can sell anything anywhere after some time in the business.

    Cons

Not the strongest pay plan in the business. You will findout.

    Advice to Management

They hire a lot of people and train them. . People don't stay because of the pay plan. . Fix it and your people will stay longer .

I worked at AutoNation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay was good, employees very nice, location was on point. Had an hour lunch which i liked.

    Cons

Managers need more training, they didnt always have the best system for a steady flow. Customers always getting angry with us because of what they were told at the store. There is no advancement only several departments of equal or less pay. No fair treatment, they play favorites.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees the way you would want to be treated.
