    Favoritism

Nov 26, 2018 - IT Developer in Fort Lauderdale, FL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great company to work for - Executive leadership is great, forward thinker, compassionate and honest.

    Cons

Some managers should attend management training before giving the role of managing individual talents. They show favoritism and always give passes to those they like and hold others to a stricter standard.

    Pros

For the most part, they use up to date technology. Like most large organizations, you're personal experience will depend on the manager you end up working for.

    Cons

It is very hard to receive training. It is based on the budget, and even then, you might not get any.

Team and environment are great. Salary is one of the highest in the area.

    Cons

Software development practices are immature. Deployment procedure is ancient and needs to adapt modern practices.

In IT, Old boy's club is in full display

Jun 24, 2018 - Software Developer in Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

None I can think of in the present situation

    Cons

In IT, the new CTO brings his colleagues who all got laid off from his ex-workplace due to M&A. Almost all the management positions till the Director levels are replaced with the members of his old boy's club. None of this new club members has any interest in winning the confidence of the team they are supposed to lead. Most of them don't even talk to any of their team members including managers. They are all behaving in the same fashion that their only purpose in AutoNation is to please their club leader and has zero concern on the well being of their team.

    Pros

Free garage parking at the tower in downtown. Working in sunny Florida.

    Cons

Their nightmare CRM system, where crap code is deployed because developers either don't know (most likely) or don't have time to optimize and load test their code.

If you consider yourself an IT specialist, strongly avoid this company

Feb 6, 2018 - Software Engineer in Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    1. Easy to get some good cafe or restaurant for lunch due to location 2. If you simply want to get paid and don't do anything, this company is for you.

    Cons

    1. Parking is horrible. You have to get inside the garage, where automatic gate never works and you have to wait till parking attendant manually opens it. Arriving to the building and actually getting to your work space usually takes 10-15 minutes. Count that! 2. Don't expect to get your pass badge and parking chip quickly. It took almost a month to get it, running between the floors to the main guard guy and my floor. Without them you will have to always exchange you ID (YES YOUR ID) with the security guard at the lobby (like you visiting someone). 3. Don't expect to get your workstation quickly as well. I was using someone's laptop for about 6 weeks till its owner was on vacation. 4. There is a big chance you may be deceived on the interview regarding the type of work duties company expects from you. I was doing completely different things from what I was initially explained to do in the interview. This might lead to losing the knowledge about your main expertise that you have, because you never truly apply them. 5. No one cares about your job duties. Ever though you would report that you develop a line of code that would help deliver spaceman to Mars within 2 hours, NO ONE CARES and NO ONE LISTENS! At some point I just stopped visiting those morning scrum meetings as scrum master simply stopped asking about my updates. SIMPLY IGNORING! 6. If you are given the task to work with offshore team, screw it. No matter how many times you explain how the job needs to be done, they never deliver quality product. Their vision: spaghetti code within lazy time period. You will probably GIVE UP EXPLAINING THINGS! 7. There are too many project managers per single project. You might messed up with different people ordering you to focus on different things. Because of this diversity you might get stuck who approves your hours. If you are a real software specialist no matter in what field, strongly avoid joining this company. NO ONE WILL APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS! There is a huge team of lazy employees out there that pretending that they do some work. If you try to fight against this system, you will be gone for sure. People are constantly leaving the company and this factor is really noticeable.

    Pros

    - Good team, people are smart and professional. - You get the chance to work in many different projects, learn a lot and it never gets boring. - Good benefits and work/life balance.

    Cons

Too many recent changes in management and direction have created an uncomfortable environment for many employees.
