I worked at AutoZone (More than a year)

    Pros

A great place for retail managers that like to sell products for do-it- yourselfers (work on their own cars) They make 50k annually.

    Cons

there are no instruction manuals for servicing the customers at checkout. If you do well, you get a

10cent per hour raise annually, unless you are a manager. The average employee lasts 6 months.

they make 9.50/hr and work an average of 25 hours per week. A hard place to work.

I worked at AutoZone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ha! Pros? The hour lunch and the few connections I made is about it. You may get to see a cool car every now and then.

    Cons

Poor communication between stores/ upper management.
The pay is deplorable even for a retail job (considering people come to you for help fixing their cars).
    Impossible customers.
Extreme lack of discipline for bad employees (leaving the good workers screwed).

    Advice to Management

My advice to management... take control of your company. You guys have to take care of your employees. There's no way a parts manager should be making $10 an hour. Most Americans are underpaid, but when you are hopelessly and hilariously underpaid, your workers have no incentive to care.
Also your practices are very unethical. (i.e. workers are expected to go outside at a customers request with no regard for safety or health. A previous coworker had worked with a girl who installed a battery in the rain. Ended up with ammonia and was out for a week. Lost a weeks pay and would've gotten fired had she not gotten a doctor's note.
But why would you guys care? Your shareholders are happy. That's all that matters right?

I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity for new hires to be hired at a decent position at store level. Somewhat flexible scheduling. Something something 20 word minimum.

    Cons

If you have been working for the company for some time there isn't much room for advancement unless you are one of the district managers buddies. Also if you end up becoming disabled they will make some excuse not to approve your reasonable accommodation if you are full time and essentially force you into part time.

    Pros

the only good thing I got from them is the experience from working in this hell hole of a company.

    Cons

Long hours, rude bosses, pressured to sale stuff ( write you up if you don't make quota), I can write a book about how horrible this company is..I have worked for them for 14 years. I do not recommend to work for them!!! I am not giving any type of stars because they would get rid of you in a heartbeat!!

    Advice to Management

Retrain all management on how to talk to them, train them..it's unbelievable how horrible some of the higher management .

    Pros

Great environment if you love vehicles. Get to help people thru a difficult time.

    Cons

1 mistake will cost you the job and no training provided.

    Advice to Management

Training!! Please understand that we are humans with bills and dreams and as humans we make mistakes. Zero leniency on policy which is never explained should not fall on the people working 45+hrs a week.

Female working part-time and only get 5 hours a week but yet they hire male employees and they get 25 to 30 hours a week if the store is slow they send the women workers home first. They keep hiring even when sales are down

I worked at AutoZone (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Upper management has every intention of making the company a good place to work and a profitable company

    Cons

District managers and regional managers often become so absorbed in financials because they may be suffering, that it becomes a miserable environment and they have even become dishonest in order to make a situation look better

    Advice to Management

This company needs a restructure of the regional levels where more exposure of the middle management activity is seen by all levels including human resources. Many good and dedicated employees are ignored and this is against their own cheer and pledge strategies they claim to instill in their culture

    Pros

None, discounts that are provided to employes are garbage, you can find the same parts on amazon using the auto zone system for part numbers.

    Cons

Management is highly incompetent and uneducated/close minded. Company culture promotes the good buddy system and ostracizes those who do not conform. Management team will hire anybody who walks threw the door, heartbeat/qualifications are optional.

    Advice to Management

Go grab your education and learn how to lead with motivation and positivity vs intimidation and pre-judgments. All training will show and include a positive projection of the company unfortunaly a lot of you guys don't practice what you are taught.
