I have been working at AutoZone full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Access to affordable car parts at a discount. Benefits are available, but take a big bite out of your check.

    Cons

Miserable schedule, shift hours pretty much change daily, split days off that change with every weeks schedule. A weekend off once every three or four months. You probably won't get enough to pay your rent let alone any other bills. If you eliminate healthcare coverage you might be able to afford a studio apt, otherwise you need a roommate to help out. The schedule is designed to prevent you from having a part time job. Upper management does not care about the employees, only profit.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about the employees more. You pay better, you'll get better. It's not necessary to suck up to the customers, the customer is the customer but they're NOT always right.

I worked at AutoZone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can be an awesome company to work for if you have the right support from DM and higher.

    Cons

Hours are generated purely on sales from 6 weeks prior. If business grows no extra hours are given to support this. Company is extremely scared of law suits. As a result, hard to get support for H.R. and L.P. issues.

    Advice to Management

Can be tough for you. Remember CYA in all aspects of your job, no matter if its good or bad.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Full time, discounts, bonus potential, and overtime. If your willing to do whatever it takes for the "team" there is upward mobility.

    Cons

No PTO time, and vacation after a year. Just a number to the company. It is a very compliance based company, and not sales driven.

    Advice to Management

Put best people in position, not based on favorites. Focus on selling outcomes, and not just checking reports.

    Pros

You get to meet people from all walks of life, have a relationship with automotive shops around you, and learn about automotive repairs and normal maintenance.

    Cons

There is a lot of information, and you can't learn it all in a short time. After you've learned most of it, things change again.

    Advice to Management

Take stock in the part timers who show initiative to become management.

I have been working at AutoZone full-time

    Pros

It's pretty easy work. That's about it though.

    Cons

I've been working for the company for almost 6 months I've been thrown around from store to store even when stressing that this is not what I agreed to management has acted as if they do not care. The hours are really long and management can pretty much talk to you any kind of way and it seems acceptable. When you talk to higher levels they do nothing about it. Training is so bad that you are basically training yourself to do the job.

    Advice to Management

Training is key for any establishment if you don't train your new hires the stores aren't going to be successful and you will continue to have high turnovers. Store managers need to be held accountable for their actions the should act like they know how to manage a group of people and treat them with respect and not talk to them how they see fit and definitely not in front of the customers.
