I have been working at AutoZone full-time

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Can build relationships with those you work with that also hate the company.

    Cons

GREEDY company. Cut hours. They want you to sell all this stuff, but you get nothing for it. The appreciation you get is getting your hours cut. Raises are a joke. Hardly any room for advancement. $6 billion in profit isn't enough, apparently. Gotta cut hours and give junk raises to get more profit. Such a greedy company.

    Advice to Management

Give people motivation to do better. Who wants to work harder for nothing? Get a clue.

I worked at AutoZone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great motivation while in college - I worked hard in school so that I would be able to quit AutoZone and never look back (except to write this review)! I also got 2 settlement checks in the years since due to several class-action suits.

    Cons

I worked here for about a year while I was in college. I was hired on part-time but never worked less than 40 hours a week... I was a full-time employee without any benefits, vacation, or paid sick time (this was 2010-11), and I was forced to work every holiday (excluding Christmas) including closing on New Year's eve and opening New Year's day. You would work a full 8 hours and then be forced to drive 30 miles for a mandatory district meeting where you would be made to perform the AutoZone "spell-out," whereby you spelled out the company name like the old Village People routine and then testified that you knew the store's parts and products and that the customer was "number one." However, they didn't really give a sheet about the customer, as you were forced to meet a quota of add-on products each week, which essentially meant selling people Vaseline that had been individually packaged and labeled for different applications; I have never personally utilized "hose grease" and felt sheety pushing it on people like snake oil. If you failed to meet your quota you could get a point - 7 points meant being fired. There were plenty of other cons which relate both to the company and the particular store I worked at, but I'll end with being underpaid and forced to purchase my own uniform.

I have been working at AutoZone part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other than its really close to my home and we goof off, not much can be said for this company.

    Cons

Low pay, over-worked, freaking annoying checkout and wittjdr, harassment (only girl in my location)

    Advice to Management

To keep the good employees, pay them what they are worth! And stop making us push the checkout and wittjdr on EVERY SINGLE customer.

    Pros

You know.... every good thing I have to say has conditions so I don't think there were any pro's.

    Cons

Pay was terrible. I started as a Parts Manager at $10.75 and after a year I got a .27 raise. Yea they offered me over-time, I mean forced me to work over time. 5-15 hours over time is fine. But 70+ hours a week is insane, they never had enough staff to cover the shifts because they knew the managers couldn't leave unless there was proper coverage. Many days spent working open to close, which is fine, I was loyal and I liked my job, however, upper management (regional manager and up) was terrible, no communication, unrealistic expectations. I am fine with setting goals and always striving to be better, but when we average lets say 50k a week, you can't demand us to make 100k next week and then write everyone in the store up for not meeting that crazy goal! Come on...

    Advice to Management

Well, I was loyal and hard worker but I had to resign after I had enough of the politics and scheduling nightmares. Get your heads in the game autozone! If you treat your employees good it will trickle down the chain and overall the customers will be the ones benefiting from happy employees who actually enjoy the job.
